LtHiker-

Headed up to Stowe this weekend. As I understand it, Smuggler's Notch is just on the other side of the Mountain, but 108 is closed in the winter to Smugg's. We are skiing at Stowe on Saturday and then either cross country skiing or snowshoeing on Sun. How was the snow?

Skiracer, the snow was awesome! Temps were alittle cold -2 the first day and never out of the single digits. No ice on the slopes.

I snowboarded all three days and it was alot of fun. I haven't been on a snow board in about 15 years. My A$$ is killing me.

That's one good thing about the cold...snow conditions don't tend to deteriorate. It's supposed to go up to a whopping 11 degress in Stowe. Of course, that's in town and I'm sure it will be colder at the mountain. Another good thing about the cold weather is that it tends to keep the crowds pretty thin.

Looks like the balaclava and facemask will be in order. Make sure there is no exposed flesh. It's not as much fun to ski that way, but it is better than getting frostbite. Thanks for the info on snow conditions and temps, LtHiker.
