How prevalent are ticks in the
Shining Rock Wilderness in mid-
April? Is there incedence of Lyme
disease among the residents of
that area? A close relative suffers
from the disease... took 2 1/2
years to diagnose.

Worry yourself not.
Just stay out of the woods.

I haven't been up there in a couple of years, but before that, we took 4 or 5 trips over the last dozen years... I never saw a tick or heard anyone mention a tick.

Anecdotal, I know ---

prolly a little cool stil in April for the ticks to come out. I havn't heard much about Lyme disease in this area, but I'm sure it's around. Always a good idea to self-inspect every night.
