I carry an almost 30 year old Swiss Army knife, fisherman's edition. My Dad never used it when I was a kid (he got it as a gift before I could remember it) so he let me have it.

Tilt -

I agree with leaving the big ones
home.
All the knives I listed are small
and light except the British MOD
It is lighter than a hatchet and
maybe more useful. I also try to avoid appearing like I am
"flashing" a weapon. Got to
remember public relations.

I've got a little Swiss Army that has two blades, a can opener a bottle opener that also double as screwdrivers. One is wide and flat-head and the other is narrow and can be used as a philips head. It used to have a toothpick and tweezers but I threw those out to make it lighter. Also, one of the plastic covers is broken off. My son did that by mistake and I've found I like it better that way.

It's all I've carried for 14 years now and I wouldn't replace it with anything.

My knife is about 2.5" long with a blade about 1/4" wide.

It's small but more than adequate for my needs.

If I needed to carry a fixed blade knife, I must confess that lately I've had lust in my heart for the SOG Northwest Ranger...

I've also been casting furtive glances at this Boker stag-handled Stockman's knife (on the right).

Since I have found out my tongue is sharper than a two-edged sword, a knife is needless weight. They even make me wear duct tape on my mouth when I fly in airplanes. Don't worry gals, I always sheath my tongue before I kiss.
