“I started at springer mountain and headed north. I was going to hike as far as I could until school started in aurgust. I din't make it very far because I kept getting distracted. And some days I didn't hike.”

“I can tell you my dragon fly sucked ass too. Too damn loud and finicky. Never really broke, but its performance was not good.

I liked my gregory pack. My petzl zoom was heavy, but great. ah, didn't have any problems with my walking stick.”

“Two questions my curiosity forces me to ask:

1) Did you consider repairing the bag or having it repaired?

2) Doesn't TNF stuff have a lifetime warranty/guarentee? Or am I confusing that with another brand?

Also, I have a dragonfly and I quit using it because of the noise. You are right, it's LOUD. (sorry, didn't mean to shout, I just wanted to be heard over the !@#$ thing) I always found it to be extremely reliable, though, unless it needed cleaning. Did you have a cleaning kit for yours?”

“Sounds like you had lots of #&%!$y gear, or maybe you didn;t take care of it, maybe thats it.”

“I've heard stories of thru-hiker's gear getting worn out while on the trail. It happens, ya know!”

“all I know I love my asolo boots. I have 3 other pair, and my 2 year old asolos are my favorite. Have a bunch of northface gear, but no sleeping bag from them, so I don't know. I do know that I love everything I have from them.

My asolo boots are my oldest boots, still they are not older then about 2 years. I wore the heck out of them, I do a lot of scrambeling on most of my hikes, so they aren't in great condition. They're goretex but I get wet feet in them. Some people wear their boots for years. I guess it depends on how hard you are using your gear. Right?

I don't have the dragonfly stove, but know someone that does have it. She loves it.

“So how far up the trail did you get? What town were you near when you got off three months from Springer?”

“My +20 TNF Blue Kazoo will be 9 yrs old this summer, and I use it plenty. It's never failed me. It's outlasted most of my older gear. My -10 TNF Serac is 7 yrs. old. I'm very happy with both. Mine don't suck.”

“My TNF Ibex down sleeping bag is 23 years old and is very well made still going strong. I also have a 1987 TNF Westwind tent and a 1981 TNF VE-24 tent. All were made in the USA at that time. I don't have any recent TNF gear, but in the old days it was the best. I guess quality can go downhill when you subcontract your sewing.”

“I don't have a TNF bag, and I love it. I also don't have a TNF tent or parka, and I love that as well.”
