BY MONDAY EVENING... THEN INTO NORTHERN INDIANA BY TUESDAY MORNING.

THIS STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING PLENTY OF GULF MOISTURE NORTHWARD AS IT HEADS TOWARD THE UPPER MIDWEST OVER THE NEXT 24 TO 36 HOURS. AS THE MOISTURE WRAPS AROUND THE STORM SYSTEM AND INTO THE COLD AIR IN PLACE ACROSS THE AREA... THE RESULT WILL BE HEAVY SNOW.

THE BAND OF HEAVIEST SNOW IS EXPECTED TO FALL NEAR A LINE FROM WATERLOO IOWA TO WINONA MINNESOTA TO RHINELANDER WISCONSIN. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OVER MUCH OF NORTHEAST IOWA... SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA AND ACROSS PARTS OF WESTERN INTO NORTH CENTRAL WISCONSIN SHOULD TOTAL 8 TO 12 INCHES BY TUESDAY MORNING. LOCALLY AMOUNTS OVER A FOOT ARE POSSIBLE ALONG THE AXIS OF THE HEAVY SNOW BAND. ACROSS SOUTHWEST INTO CENTRAL WISCONSIN AMOUNTS WILL NOT BE AS HEAVY... BUT ARE STILL EXPECTED TO TOTAL IN THE 6 TO 9 INCH RANGE BY TUESDAY MORNING.

ON TOP OF ALL THIS... BRISK

Lizs, during the many years that I lived in Chicago, Wisconsin and Minnesota, I welcomed the snow and the winter weather. The more snow and the colder it became, the better I liked it. In a way it was a challenge, something to be conquered. During 16 years of schooling I experienced only one day of the schools being closed. And I always had to walk, sometimes backwards, sometimes in a group giving mutual support. Nowdays, I'm afraid we're raising a bunch of sissys.”

“OK, you snow fiends. lol... been so cold you can't enjoy the snow, at least I sure don't. Also, we had freezing rain before the extreme cold, so there is ice underneath it all, no chance to thaw. Not fun.....”

“I agree, freezing rain is bad. It can be miserable and it is better to sit out the storm.

Also, on the frozen lakes it causes water to sit on top of the ice hiden under the snow. It's easy to get a car stuck, if the tires break through the crusted snow covering.”
