Oh, DC is to be ignored again? Even though its High point beats out Florida?

Roam, I have the book. It's a small book, but does have some okay info on it.

did you check the website yet?? I have it bookmarked on the other computer. I can check later if you dont have it. It's that mountaineering club that climbs all the sixers here in the south. They give you a patch after you have completed all of them.

They actually had a real good resourse of trails on their site. Dang, I thought I had it bookmarked on this computer too.

I think I read somewhere that the high point in Florida is a hill somewhere that is all of about 400 feet above sea level. That is the "lowest" high point of the 50 states. The king of the high points is Mt. McKinley in Alaska. At 26-27 thousand feet it creates its own weather. Not sure I want to undertake that trek, but Denali Park is well worth the visit.

Seneca Rocks is only a few miles from Dolly Sods...depending on the way you take you might pass it on the way in. We should stop there at the end of the month.

Spruce Knob is about a 30 min drive from Seneca...not much to see there. A .5 mile trail to the platform and another .5 mile interpretive trail. It is a pretty cool view. I should get my pictures back next week.

Seneca takes an hour to hike to the top, then about .5 hour of fooling around climbing on the rocks, taking pictures, etc, then .5 hour to walk back down.

Brasstown Bald (GA) isn't too far from you/ I hear that is a pretty neat area. You can potentially drive up too, but to hike makes it more rewarding.

South Carolina is close to you as well. While it's a drive up there's also a trail that crosses it. I have the info at home but don't remember the trail name. Gemini/Carolina Hikers can probably assist on a good hike to tie into Sassafras Mountain. Cool name, huh!? It's south of Brevard, NC for reference.

LOL I just looked up Brasstown Bald on topozone.

Need to work out a Friday arrival, Summit on Sat or Sun. It'd be cool to summit on Sunday and pick up a car that was left there to shuttle with.
