Knock yourself out, if you've a mind to... <grin>

"Submitted for your edification," so to speak.

Please forgive me for being so dim. I read the book many, many moons ago. Why do you bring it up now?

A classic work... for free.

Enjoy... Or not. Whatever.

Oh, I see. I can be thick but not unreachable. We, The Great Unwashed, are to be the beneficiaries of your largesse. THANK YOU, oh Tilted One...

I haven't read this before; it's been on my to-do list for quite a while.

The program about Black Elk on the C-SPAN 'American Writers' series a couple of years ago got me interested... then I got sidetracked (as Usual, <G>).

Oh no. Not mine ----

It seems to have been put together by someone at the University of Nebraska... I can't quite figure out who.

That is about the Visions of Nicolas Black Elk, not Wallace Black Elk who just passed away last week.

(Just a point of information to dvoid confusion!)

Looks like interesting reading, Tilt, although I'd still rather curl up with my hands on a book given the choice.

This is, I take it, the Black Elk for whom that wilderness in South Dakota is named?

I am a western history/culture buff and read it several years ago. I remember some of it being recollections of dreams and Indian mysticism. Now Tolstoy, there's some fun stuff. Or Dostoevsky? "The Brothers..." is a hoot.

I have, and have read, Black Elk Speaks. I think the other book I have on him is just called Black Elk. Being part Lakota myself, they were must read books. Bury my heart at Wounded Knee is good as well.

Dee Brown, author of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee is a national treasure. Check out his bibliography sometime or read Creek Mary's Blood. For a quick weekend read get Kildeer Mountain.
