Yes, I'm a guy. I think the base rate is $45. That's standard if you don't go to a barber or butcher, I mean "Super Cuts."

Do real men not pay that much?

28 here. I think the whole thirty thing has been freaking me out, but I'm getting past that. From talking with some forty somethings at work they say that's the same thing they went through and then went through it again at forty wishing they were thirty again.
I guess now I really don't care. My new definition of old is when you eat applesauce and s*&^ yourself everyday! Atleast I stopped calling myself a quarter of a century old...LOL! Age really means nothing as far as ability anyway.
When I was fourteen I dishwashed with a ninety year old guy we called old "tripod" (a name he got in the Navy) and this skinny little man was really fast! He kept up with us young guys no problem! And he wasn't using an industrial dishwasher- he used the sink and did it the old fashioned way!
I guess youth is a feeling, not an age...

I am IMPLYING that EVERYTHING cost TRIPLE in WASHINGTON D.C. I used to live near there myself aobut 10 years ago. A damn haircut for a guy at 70.00 to 75.00 is a lot of money.

See? That is what I am saying...you pay too much for so little over there...I think the cost of living over there is eitehr the second highest or first. Not sure which is higher, there or Hawaii but I was lucky to have spent my whole military career at both places. By the time I got screwed by Uncle Sam on my paycheck and after spending the paycheck, I don't complain about taxes over here at all.

Yes, cost of living is high. And I just took a huge paycut to change(alter?) careers. I also pay $930 for a studio plus $120/month for off street parking.

930 is low considering my rent hike when I first moved in was 13.5%. It's ben halved every year since. I guess that's "rent control"?

I'm 43.

The 20's were hell, the 30's were better, and now the 40's are great. (although I wouldn't go back and change a thing).

I started hiking and backpacking at 40 and it's been uphill ever since.

I hate tipping for a haircut because they rarely do what I want. A while ago I decided to go back to a "real" hair guy (rather than pay for a hack job at WalMart which I can do on my own for free) I picked a cut out of a book, and he cut it perfectly! I gave him $5 tip on a $20 haircut.

So I go back for a trim. I define trim as "the same hairstyle, just trimmed" but apparently the guy defines trim as "she's old and fat, I'll give her football helmet hair" and of course, doesn't tell me this until he's done cutting. Basically he turned my spunky do into old lady hair.

Now, I didn't want to tip him anything at all, but felt obligated because I had last time. Course I won't go back to him, and am currently cutting my own hair again.
