A girl from the student newspaper(The PolyPost) just interviewed me for an article about hiking. She said she did a search on the university website and my web pages were all over the place.

She started out asking me about local places to hike during the spring break and what a person should know if they go on a hike.

Then she said, "Tell me about TrailTalk!" I had to tell her to stay away from TTers if she knew what was good for her. Just a bunch of no-accounts and malcontents who like to escape from reality. Anyway, she seemed to enjoy the interview. I will have to keep my eyes out for the article when it is published. Unfortunately, she has a lot of pictures to link if she wants to embarrass me!!!

Anyway, it was fun doing the interview.

Ha! Which are you, Phil? A no-account or a malcontent?

LOL.

Kewl Phil - but, if you are publicly linked to Trail Talk, your chances of ever getting elected to anything that matters are gone!

Cool Phil. I always think it is interesting when I find out that a professor has a real life. Kinda' like when I was in elementary school and I was surprised to find out that my teacher's had first names.

Ah, falling for that old "I just want to do a cute little piece about hiking and how interesting it is..." come on. Wait until you see your pic on the front page under the headline "Prof sucks up enormous U. CIS resources to promote backwoods debauchery."

Then the lead...

From lime jello wrestling to employing the services of llamas, anything goes when a seemingly mild-mannered engineering professor employs our school's state-of-the art computer system to encourage virtual -- and sometimes in the flesh -- fraternization between members of a shadowy internet cabal.

Once TT hits the mainstream conciousness, Janet's boob drama will seem like preschool story hour.

(P.S. congrats on your moment of media stardom, Phil, and thanks for all the great work you do for TT camradarie.)

Nowslimmer - Flip a coin!!

ped - Good. I don't want to run for anything.

mtnsteve - Point taken. LOL.

t-girl - I did tell her about the cool TTers I met in Nashville and Detroit last year.

It is cool of the school to let me host the Photo Page on their server. The least I can do is give a nice interview!

I was interviewed in a grocery store parking lot by a reporter for a small newspaper in New Hampshire.

He was looking for some to talk about SPAM.

It was something like the 60th anniversary of SPAM.

Spam's not that old...oh wait, you're talking about the processed sort of meat byproduct thing that comes in a can. Spam burritos made by Spam, best TT breakfast I've ever had.

That's really cool Phil! As if you weren't a celebrity already ; ) . And I see that you neclected to tell them that TT also makes a great escape from boredom at work. That's probably for the best.

BigPoppa - All the "full moon" shots on the photo pages did come to mind!! LOL

aero - when I first came to campus in 1982 the student newspaper was basically dominated by communists and/or left wing radicals. I haven't really monitored it in the past 20 years to see what has changed. Also, one of my former students who graduated about a year ago is signed up for the South-North Lake trip in July. She is cool (and may have been in cross country in HS...not sure).

I'm sure aero caught the story from today's Poly Post excitedly announcing that the NCAA Division II Cross-Country championships will be hosted by CPP and held near the campus at Mt. SAC - in May! Hmmmm, that's about 6 months earlier than usual. Either the Fighting Pollies (or whatever they are) are trying to get a jump on things or the newspaper means Track & Field?

(In their defense, they do describe the event as the track & field championship in the body of the article....)
