Who's in Southern Cal?

“Just got word from the employer that we're having our next conference in So Cal. They haven't told us what city yet but they did say mid-March. Depending on the dates, I may be able to fly out a day or two early (the extra day or two would most likely fall on a weekend). Figured I'd start checking w/ TTers now... Anyone there?”

“Yes, I know they are sleeping, silly. But, I won't be around this afternoon since I'm gonna be w/ you so I figured I'd get the thread out there now.

Ivygal - I sure hope so. I was hoping our conference would be in Nashville. So, if So Cal falls into the ocean, we'll have to relocate! :-)”

“Phil - I work for an investment company. We have an annual conference to get together w/ colleagues across the country to "brainstorm", "team build", and silly stuff like that. Basically, we'll have 3 days of seminars, training, and mandatory dinners. Yuc. Not exactly something I look forward to.

This one will be starting on the evening of the 14th and we'll fly home on the 17th. So, I'm thinking I'd like to come out a day or two early since it'll be a weekend. Location is still un-announced. I expect to hear something more definite this week.

Yes!! I'd love a hike since I've never hiked in So Cal before. A gathering would be great, too. :-)”

“OK. We will wait and see where your conference is and then see if we can plan something. Gatherings are always fun. Depending on the snow level in the surrounding mountains, maybe we can do a day hike. Plenty of options.

And there is always Disneyland!!!”

“I'm in Torrance, just south of LAX. I can come out for dinner Mon-Thurs, but I'm in Mammoth Fri-Sun.”

“The location has finally been announced. Our conference will be at the Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego. I have to confirm w/ our travel people to see how early they'll let me fly out. I'm hoping for Friday so I'll have at least one full day (Saturday) to play. I know they encourage a Saturday night stay since it saves on the cost of the flight so I expect little trouble getting there early. I'm also waiting on our agenda so I know when I'm expected to be w/ colleagues.

I'll continue to keep ya'll posted! Most likely, tho, a dayhike and/or Saturday evening get together would be do-able. Can't wait!”

“How terrible. I guess you will have to suffer with the nice weather a luxury resort.

We will have to decide on a location that is somewhat central to you and the rest of us in the LA area. There are Anza Borrego, San Jacinto, and Cleveland National Forest options. Hopefully someone will chime in with a few specific suggestions that know those areas better than I do.

And there are others too. It just depends on whether they want mountains or desert. Let us know. I can assist in setting up an AB trip. And TrailTrekker is the San Jax Princess, I am sure she could do some good there.

“I've never been to San Diego. I'll be happy w/ whatever y'all choose. I'm staying at the "rancho" on Sunday night. But, I can grab a motel room anywhere the night before as long as it's w/in cab range to where I have to be on Sunday. I do have to fly into San Diengo... Y'all just tell me where to be for a TT gathering and I'll make it happen.”

I was hoping to get away this weekend, but Several chores have come up. :-(
And to top it off, Fred, my pet balloon just got sucked into the fan. It pulled off one strand of hair, but I think he is OK.
