My kids want to sell their comic books. One of them is a 2000 x-men the movie special edtion given out by toys r us back then. So you are not able to buy in stores.

Should I let them sell it on ebay or you think it will be worth more then what they could get for it right now? (not even sure what they are worth, I wasn't able to find anything on the next about this comic book)

You could always wait till the next X-men movie comes out...the price may go up at that time...

Don't sell the comic books!. Never sell the comic books.

With that said, problably in general, ebay is problaby the best common place to sell them. The best place to sell them is at a comic book convention. Check your comic book store as to when and where the next one is.

Don't sell them at a comic book store. You will get the least value from them.

Go and get some plastic wraps for the comic books for storage. You can get them at any comic book store.

There is also some books out there that will tell the value of the books.

In general,

All first additions are prized.

Whole series are prized. Is it a special series or do you have a complet 1-100 collection.

A sereis that is done by a well known artist.

A popular series of comic books, meaning is this the one everyone is reading. ( you need to sell these fast, I think because it is fickle)

Your discription does not tell me a whole lot, but I would bet that it was printed just for the marketing of the movie. They problably got a unkown artist,so it might not be worth anything.

On the other hand, I do have some Big DC books that featured Superman and Mahamand Ali. It was put out as a marketing thing and it is now worth a few coins. Only age will tell, sooooo,

Don't sell you comic books. Ok, I am done.

okay, I'll tell em not to sell it.
if you know a little bit about comic books, here's what I have:

the comic book was exclusively presented by toys r us when the first movie came out. It even says so on the cover. it is a marvel comic book.

2000 x-men the movie special edition. I don't know much about this stuff,but I don't think it's part of a set.

Oh well, I just told them that its best that we don't sell it yet. nice to have when they are all grown up. :) I'll buy a plastic protective sheet for it. I honestly think that would be something I would like to start...collecting comic books. I used to have a ton when I was a kid.

comic books suck.....
i like cards better....probably got anywhere from 3000-5000 stashed in boxes in my storage....lots of late 80's early 90's....although i do have some of the more valuable stuck in my apt.

"stashed in boxes in my storage"

see, now thats the problem with cards right there and why comics are better. you can enjoy a card for what, all of one minute? before you stash it away with your other thousands of cards. a good comic gives you 15 minutes of good times, and you can come back to it again and again and catch different nuances if its well written or illustrated. now, if youre talking from a monetary standpoint, cards got comics beat all over.

My wife's cousin has the #1 Spawn comic book that is signed by the author. I'd love to know what that thing is worth.

from what ive heard, signing a comic actually drives down its worth. spawn was a hot comic when it came out, but the storyline went nowhere. probably no more than 10 bucks

yeah but when you go reading them and beating them up then what you got...nada....just some nice slick packing paper that used to be worth pennies....plus cards have more history to them....gotta think of all the super bowl special editions and world series nba championship cards....helli even got plenty of hackey cards

I searched the internet, and some comic books are worth a lot of money, I mean alot.

It really depends on what you like to collect. Coins, stamps, comic books, card...doesn't make a difference.

I used to collect matches. Had a pretty nice collection 25 years ago. I just forgot about it. I bet some of those 25 year old match boxes would be worth something today.

Comic books are fun. Personally I think they have history. I am not too much into sports, so if I start to collect anything it sure wouldn't be baseball cards, etc... (my kids do, but not me)

basically, it boils down to this, overall, you get more money for cards, more enjoyment out of comics. a bigger percentage of baseball card collectors are speculators than are comics collectors

Do some "window shopping" on ebay to get an idea of how much the comics you have are fetching.

good call, marko, also, familiarize yourself with the grading scale. just because a mint BlubberButt #1 is worth 100 bucks, doesnt mean your dog-eared BB1 is worth the same

Quite right you are!

And there is a difference between "mint" and "cherry"!!!

A "cherry" Buttstalker might getchya in more trouble than a "mint" one.

if theyre serious about selling their item, get them to bag and board their item. advertise it as that way

If you are going to use plastic covers, please also use non-acidic backing boards. Years from now you will appreciate it.

I bet it will be worth some good bucks. Xmen stories is there bread and butter. (well they have few of those actually) They are always expanding those titles witch will keep it alive. Down the road, that will be worth a few hundred I bet.

Cool LZ...

I was just pricing through some comics I have the other day..

I have about 170 in sleeves...

The funny thing is I had a handful of beatup comics not in sleeves...
I think one of them must of been from my a relatives house or something....

It was called Gods Smuggler...

I looked it up and it was like $30 mint... I was like oh crap, better put it in a sleeve...

Yeah I had an X-men comic like that. It was worth somewhere around $20 or $25, but was in such bad shape the recycling value of the paper was worth more. Oh well at least I enjoyed reading it when I was a kid.

thanks for the link nad all the other info. It's worth a couple dollars right now, so I better put it in a sleve and far away from the kids. Cameron thinks he can finally buy his lamborghiny when he grows up. Now I had to make it clear that it's not THAT much worth. LOL
