I heard this come up because the actor that plays Chewbacca is going to be in episode 3. His contract also states that he must appear in episodes 7, 8 and 9. I think that is where the rumor started.

There has always been misinformation put out by Lucas in regards to SW. I think it has to do with him wanting to throw some people off "the scent". Call it what you will, the offical word from him in an interview I saw last year was that this SWIII movie was the last one. Then again, after Jedi, he said there would be no more also, so have no idea what's going to happen.

I wish I can remeber the website from Hollywood, but it listed all of the approved movies up to 2005. I saw that site back in '95 and it listed all three "new" SW movies, as well as stuff like Fear and Loathing, and such.

take a look at jedi.net They sometimes have good "inside" info. I was blown away when I saw Peter Mayhew's name on listed in the credits for htenew upcoming movie.

Also, tune into the Cartoon Network in the Spring. They willbe doing an animated telling of the Clone Wars to bridge the gap between Episode 2 and 3. Lucas found out that there was just too much to tell between the two and three and this gives him a good avenue to do it in.

I have mixed feelings about the three after Jedi. I don't think it's nessesary on one hand, but I'm such a phuckin' Star Wars nerd that I love anything movies wise come out. That move made a big change in my life.

Episode I and II pretty much sucked in comparison to iv-vi. I don't think they'll make enough to warrant a 7,8, and 9.

yea when i heard the rumor about 7-9, i thought, no please stop the pain. lets get three out of the way so i can say i saw it. what irks me is that lucas does not listen to constuctive criticism AT ALL, just does whatever he wants to do, making the epitome of over-hyped, over-blown, under-acted cgi-fests

Back in '93 or so, talk was starting about not only the first three episodes we're suffering through now, but about doing episodes 7-9. Just after rise of the clones, I heard that the three to follow Jedi had been scrapped. Frankly, if Lucas does them the way that he did 1 & 2 (and prolly will do 3), it's a good thing. Not bad for entertainment, but waaaay below the bar he set with the original trilogy. On the other hand...maybe he can use them to recover from the collossal screw-up!

If I am not mistaken, originally there were only 7 episodes in the series (before the "Star Wars" movie).

what sucks is, or couldve sucked, the way hes doing them now is really the way he wanted to do the first trilogy, but in the 70s and early 80s, they were light years from cgi. and it was a good thing. give me stop-motion models and guys in rubber masks over glossy cgi any day
