Anyone know the area?
We're looking to break in a newbie with an easy overnighter come March. I was browsing around looking for someplace new (to me) to go close to the greater metro Atlanta area. I've been up around Franklin/Clayton area before, but I've never been on Bartram Trail. I was reading about the trail and I found a 9 mile section that seems like it would be perfect, from FS155 to Warwoman Dell. From my topos it looks like it would be a very easy hike, with little to no uphills and should do well to break in a newbie. I'm curious if anyone familiar with the area could tell me if there is good parking at/around the trail intersection of FS155 at Wilson gap and if it would be safe to leave a car there. Is the area crowded and is there a lot of available camping areas? I'd like to start out at FS155 and hike down to Martin falls and camp around there for the night, with a layover at Pinnacle Knob on the way. That should leave us a short hike out on Sunday for the 4 hour drive back to Alabamistan.
