"How about when the right quits #&%!$ing about how the people who voted for Perot got Clinton elected?"

Now, Now Laqtis all you have to do is scroll up a few posts to see that the left pulls the same #&%!$.

Ah, yes. that maybe true; however, it is your side of the aisle that has been #&%!$ing about that longer. It's been thrown in my face even to this day, by my friends from my former party. I am only pointing out that it goes both ways; a point you obviously agree with.

Funny, I haven't heard that Perot-Clinton thing since that election. I wasn't even sure what you were talking about when I first read it.

It's now almost 4 years later, and I'm still hearing the left whine about the 2000 election.

Deal with it... BE POSITIVE, move forward!

How about someone actually addressing the main #$$#@% issue I raised without casting the old "you too, you too" crap around? My point was that it was GORE'S fault he didn't get elected, not Nader's or anyone else's.

"How about blaming Gore for not getting out the vote? What % of registered Dems actually voted? THAT was what Gore shoulda been focused on, not blaming Nader for getting a couple % points.

IT'S GORE's responsibility to get out his supporters... if he didn't have enough of them to win, then that's that, case closed."

But that's OK if you don't wanna go there, because IF YOU DON'T, the same thing will happen this year... the voters won't turn out, your man will lose, and we'll hear all your whining for the NEXT 4 years about how unfair life is.

I'll address your main issue. Gore lost because he was not a strong canidate and was the only alternative to your man Bush. Had Bush not discredited McCain with the ugly smear campaingn he ran against him, you and me would be rallying around President McCain in the upcoming election and there would be NO DIVIDE in this god dam country.

How was that?

Is this going to be the double talk stance from the right, all the while calling the VP canidate from the left the "Breck Girl?"

Didn't hear about that one, did ya?

Hey, just what IS the Republican party platform for this year?

Yeah there'd be no divide about a conservative, pro-life, pro-war republican President.

Uh-huh.

How ever you'd like to lok at it. McCain was/is appealing enough to bring both sides together, while having enough common sence and leadership to know when to push, when to pull. Yep, he would've gotten us a lot further than Bush2. He wouldn't have crapped on the world community, would've smashed Afgani and occupied with string force in a show of strength, would've pressured the East to co-operate afterward and still would've have enough time to kiss his family goodnight before he went to bed.

Have to say, Q, I haven't heard the "Breck Girl" thing either.

JFTR, If you read my posts, you'll find that I have, on numerous occasions, mentioned that I DID NOT vote for GW the first time, and don't intend to this time. I am not defending him in my psots, I am usually trying to instigate actual THOUGH and RATIONALITY instead of the lock-step response we see from idealogues.

I equally believe right-wing and left-wing extremists are equally to blame for the divide we have in our country.
wanderer

Right on, wand, and I agree whole heartly. When we lock-step behind the ideals of others and let them speak for us, then it's the country as a whole that suffers. I know where you stand and what yer up to; no need to explain to me at least because you don't speak with "fork tounge", unlick "others" on this board (yep, I'm talking about you again. BTW - 20% point)

The "Breck Girl" ref is in direct response to Kerry's poke to the Dick and Bush camp on why they (people in the crowd) should vote for them. I believe it was during the event where the Hollywood actors did a fund raiser that got the right's panties in a twist. Kerry rattled off a bunch of reasons, then at the then he said "Because we have better hair". The next day, the right started floating the Breck Girl thing.

Nothin' to it. It was just that much too big for a regular envelope... like 1/8 or 1/16 of an inch! <GRRrrrrr>

The 2-party system down here is in bad shape, BB. Since inroads were made my Republicans in the state gov't, the two remaining white Democrats in our local delegation switched parties (surprise). Now all the Republicans are white and all the Democrats are black.

I sure am glad Bush was a 'uniter'. If he had been a 'divider' we'd REALLY be in terrible shape!

I was looking at one of the front pages of AOL when it opens up. It has Kerry and Bush facing each other. Kerry is looking down with shadows on his face and Bush is looking up with nice lights. That kind of bias drives me nuts. That is so subversive that it Bush a leg up without hearing each others views. I am sure a agree with some of Bush's views, but if you were drawn on who the better president would/will be and you had those two pictures in your mind - you would choose Bush because it a more positive picture. I don't think it is fair the way the medias are used to get a candiate elected.

I agree that it goes both ways and I think it is such a misuse of the media power. If there is one thing I think should be restored is the FCC going back to the 7 7 7 rule. I think that has done more damage to our cultural and country then anything. To allow a single corporations to own so media is wrong. People are so confused and have no one source to turn to for an unbias view on news and politics.

exit polls
Democrats alway's blame Nader for Gore's loss in 2000 based on exit poll data stating enough Dem's voted for Nader that could have changed the outcome if he wasn't running. The same exit polls state more Democrat's voted for Bush than for Nader. So, I guess now we have to consider that Gore may just have been a chump nobody wanted to vote for. Besides, isn't the point of a campaign to try and get the people to vote for you and not the other guy? Quit crying already.

I posted this on the cute joke thread, but I figured I would post it here too.

Little David was in his 4th grade class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for
a living. All the typical answers came up-fireman, policeman, salesman, doctor, lawyer, etc.

David was being uncharacteristically quiet, so the
teacher asked him about his father.

"My father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes off his clothes in front of other men and
they put money in his underwear. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, he goes home with some guy
and makes love with him for money. "

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some
other work while she took little David aside to ask him, "Is that
really true about your father?"

"No," said David, "He works for the Democratic National Committee to elect John Kerry, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids...""

Question for Kerry fans. If Kerry has such a great plan to fix the economy and keep jobs from going overseas then why not propose a bill to do just that? I thought Congressman could do that? I would think that if these were his priorities then he would jump all over it rather than wait until he's president.

CNN - 2000 exit poll
Democrat's voting for Bush 11%
Democrat's voting for Nader 2%

Proof enough for me. Gore was a chump.

31% of Nader voters stated they would not have voted if there was not a third party.

"Fight Fiercely Harvard...."

Is it time to whip out the Tom Lehrer again?

Fight fiercely, Harvard, fight, fight, fight!
Demonstrate to them our skill.
Albeit they possess the might,
Nonetheless we have the will.

How we will celebrate our victory,
We shall invite the whole team up for tea. (How jolly!)
Hurl that spheroid down the field,
And fight, fight, fight!

Fight fiercely, Harvard, fight, fight, fight!
Impress them with our prowess, do!
Oh, fellas, do not let the crimson down,
Be of stout heart and true.

Come on, chaps, fight for Harvard's glorious name!
Won't it be peachy if we win the game? (Oh, goody!)
Let's try not to injure them,
But fight, fight, fight!
Let's not be rough, though!
Fight, fight, fight!
And do fight fiercely!
Fight, fight, fight!

Have you seen the little piggies crawling in the dirt?
And for all the little piggies life is getting worse,
Always having dirt to play around in,

Have you seen the bigger piggies, in their starched white shirts?
You will find the bigger piggies stirring up the dirt,
Always have clean shirts to play around in.

What have I done?
I have a HUGE Poli Sci project due in a couple of weeks. This porject contains a couple of "parts" to it. Fail to complete on part, you loose big time on the whole project.

One part of this project is that I have to present my voters registration card. No problem. I carry it with me daily. Second part to that part - I have to find a person that hasn't signed up to vote and get them to vote. Lucky for me, my sisters boy friend helped me out on that one. Whew!

The other big part to the project: Volenteer 3 hours of your time to improve government.

WTF!?!?!

I thoought about doing trail maintianiance, but it would be a strech and I didn't think I could pull off a goods paper out of it. Plus, verifying my time would be a pain.

So, tomorrow I'm off to canvass on behalf of Kerry/Edwards tomorrow morning. I figure what better way to improve gubment, than getting that fat bass turd of a waste of time out of office? As the old saying goes, when ya can't go down any further, the only way you can go is up!

Maybe I can bring home some lawn signs for some of ya.

Let me know....

Well, I just got back.
Very interesting day. This is the first time I really got out on a grass roots level, that this was truly - GRASS ROOTS!

We had roughly ten people total. Our area was a nice, brand new sub (some houses still going up). At first, the gentalman I was paired up with was saying that this must be a Republican area. I had a total of 26 names, generated from the voting records from the last county election. We were to target likely voters today, which of course is the proper thing to do.

The two of us spilt up and went on our way. After about 2 hours (headquarters thought it might take us 2.5), I was through my list. I met some really nice people in my journey. The total = out of six conversations, I had three strong leaning Dems, one undecided, one Liberterian and one Independant. Out of this group, four of them were going to vote for Kerry, one was going to vote for the Liberterian canidate and the undecided was still undecided. I did not encounter any Bush suporters, like my partner had *feared* and I felt disappointed by that. As a group, out of about 52 conversations, we had 33 voting for Kerry and only a hand full of *declared* Bush supportors (that were mentioned). There was a good number of undecideds out there and a fair amount of Independants it would seem, both who are still waiting to sree what's going to happen.

My take is that at this point, neither side has done a very good job energizing the Indies and undecideds. I think this speaks loudly about what is going on in this country and it furthers my belief that one of these tow parties, and it'll prolly be the Repubs, will wind up spliting very soon and if they loose this election, hasten that ten fold; I don't seem them re-aligning any more.

I will continue to support Kerry and volunteer my time for his campaign, but prolly something a little more closer to home, as this activity took me about an hour away from my home area. I was happy to see others out there trying to make a difference, rather than sitting on their respective asses, like have been doing. I was very suprised to see that I was the youngest guy inthe room too.

What ever side you pull the lever, put your words into action by getting out the vote. Today, people just don't think they make a difference anymore, it is up to you convince them otherwise, and not with just propaganda. Encourage people around you to get out there and get informed.

Either side your on, we have to understand that this country is not going to get any better, unless people are made to feel part of the system. It's really too bad that only a minority of the country, decides for the rest of us.

Do something about that!

Go Vote!
