Wrong Place, Wrong Time

A Pennsylvania man, scheduled for a hearing on drug charges, decided he couldn't wait — and sparked up in the courthouse bathroom, police say.

Luzerne County Deputy Sheriff Ryan Maye told the Times-Leader of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., that he first heard the rustle of a plastic baggie coming from the next stall at about 10:45 a.m. EDT Tuesday.

Then Maye heard the sound of a lighter being struck. Within seconds, the smell of roasting marijuana filled the men's room of the magnificent neo-classical Luzerne County Courthouse in Wilkes-Barre.

"I banged on the door and ordered him to come out," Maye told the paper.

From the stall emerged a sheepish Nickolai Cinchock, 32, who was due for an 11 a.m. hearing on a recent arrest of theft and drug charges. Cinchock was tucking a pipe back into his pocket, according to Maye.

Maye and another deputy patted Cinchock down and found, in addition to marijuana, two containers with 49 Xanax pills inside.

Since all parties involved were already in the courthouse, the arraignment didn't take long, and Cinchock was sent to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility down the street pending $1,000 bail.

He was given a hearing next Thursday on the new charges. There was no indication whether he planned to smoke pot before that hearing as well.

Illinois Man Caught With Six Bags of Weed at Courthouse

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP)
— Demarco Cortez Whatley of East St. Louis remembered he had to pay a $500 fine at the St. Clair County courthouse.

But the 24-year-old says he forgot he had six baggies of marijuana in his pockets.

Bailiff D'Wayne Sargent says he and his colleagues discovered the marijuana when they searched Whatley after a courthouse metal detector sounded when he walked through.

They found marijuana in one of Whatley's back pockets and both front pockets.

Sargent says Whatley told them he forgot it was there.

Whatley now is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. It's punishable by a $1,000 fine and up to a year in prison.

Yes, I'd Like to Report My Illegal Drugs Stolen

OREM, Utah (AP)
— A man who called police to report that his marijuana was stolen was arrested after police recovered the pot and invited him to come to the Public Safety Building to identify it.

Kory C. Tippetts, 18, of Orem, was arrested and booked into the Utah County jail for investigation of possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone with intent to distribute, police said Tuesday.

Tippetts called police Monday evening after someone broke a window, got cut on the glass and crawled into his home while he was away. He told police the only thing missing was a quarter-pound bag of marijuana he was selling.

Tippetts also told officers that a man called him about buying some marijuana earlier in the day, but Tippetts was on his way to work and told the caller no. He gave police the caller's name.

Officers found Richard W. Hight, 23, at his mother's home in Provo, where they recovered six ounces of marijuana. Hight had a cut on his arm and blood-soaked pants, police said.

He was arrested for investigation of burglary, theft and possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone with intent to distribute and booked into the Utah County jail.

TEEN'S BRAIN
TAKES POWDER

By ZACH HABERMAN

August 4, 2006 -- A Brooklyn teen, apparently angry about a drug bust, didn't know write from wrong when he mailed cops an envelope stuffed with white powder - and bearing his name and address.
Cops from the 73rd Precinct easily tracked down Adbullah Date shortly after the letter arrived at the East New York Avenue station house Wednesday.

"Ha Ha, [you] thought it was anthrax. F - - - you," Date, 18, allegedly scribbled. He also taunted: "Catch me if you can."

Then he wrote his name, birthday and Hull Street address on the envelope, says a complaint unsealed by the Brooklyn U.S. Attorney's Office. Date was arrested last month by cops who said they saw him toss crack vials out a window, court documents show.

I know a person who got so freaked out after smoking some pot that he called the cops on himself. He had a guest from another country staying with him, too. The guy could barely speak english. I can only imagine what that guy was thinking. lol.

Misunderstood Hand Signs Trigger Brawl

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- A brawl involving five men apparently began over a misunderstanding when a man who is deaf and mute was communicating through sign language and another man took offense, thinking that the hand gestures were disrespectful. Police say what resulted was a brawl in which a gun was fired Sunday outside a pizza store in east Anchorage.

Raymond Keith McWain, 26, had just turned a corner in his car when he noticed a truck with three men alongside his car. The deaf man was communicating with the other two in the truck through sign language, police said.

McWain thought the sign language gestures were some sort of slight or "disrespect" toward him, police said. He made some gestures of his own and honked and cut in front of the truck before pulling into the pizza store. The men in the truck followed.

In the parking lot, McWain and the three men from the truck began pushing and shoving, police said. McWain's cousin, Daniel Harris, 20, who works at the pizza store, came out and began beating the deaf man as the deaf man's companions pummeled McWain.

Multiple shots were fired from at least one gun.

Police are looking into whether Harris pistol-whipped the deaf man. A shot might have gone off then, police spokesman Paul Honeman said.

The men from the truck left the parking lot.

When police arrived they found McWain lying in the parking lot bleeding heavily from his head and upper body, Honeman said. At first police thought he'd been shot, but it turned out his injuries were from being beaten and kicked. McWain was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in fair condition.

The deaf man also went to a hospital later that night for treatment.

Police found Harris crying, crouched near the front counter inside the pizza store, court documents said.

The only man arrested was Harris, who was charged with possession of methamphetamine. When police searched Harris they found several plastic baggies of meth, a glass pipe and $4,691 in his pockets, court documents said.

Harris' bail was set at $15,000. According to a public database, he has no prior convictions in Alaska. The investigation into the fight and gunshots is ongoing.

god knows why, but it wasnt because he got the crap beaten out of him. maybe he was feeling guilty for beating on a disabled person. maybe it was because he saw his cousin beaten up. maybe he was tweaking
