Wilderness First-Aid Certification

“I just received a call from the PEEC. Anyone taking this course will need to bring the following items: sleeping bag, water bottle, hiking boots, rain gear, and clothing appropriate for March weather. A segment of the course will be facilitated outdoors and they want everyone to stay warm.

Anyone coming to the cabin will need the items listed above plus a towel and personal hygiene kit.
AND ENOUGH BREW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

They list various items to pack and one of them is soap. What cracks me up is that the typed soap in all caps and in bold. Geez, how bad do they think we'll smell??”

“My "wilderness" first aid was held in a classroom, and was just basic first aid with the twist that you couldn't call or run and get help. We spent all day inside :(”

left out of the fun!! Doesn't really matter..we can still head to the cabin for some brews. If we find the living arrangements at PEEC are askew, you are all more than welcome to crash at the cabin for the weekend. See you on Friday afternoon. By the way, brew of choice...wet and cold !! “Pennsy...no, doesn't screw me up at all. I only paid for the course. I called today asked if I could stay if needed and they said yes. I just figured everyone was staying at PEEC since I received no replies. Staying at the cabin will be better anyway. See ya' tomorrow afternoon.”

“NJpacker, Calmwater3, and myself took the course this weekend and we all passed the certification test. Woohoo! All we need now are some TT bodies to practice on. Volunteers?

It was a very good course and our very own AmyG did an outstanding job as an instructor. She was supposed to be an assitant but she pretty much took over the class. Super job Amy and thanks!

It was great to meet NJ and Calmwater. I felt like I knew them already and we all had a great time (too bad Pennsy was along though). ;p

This was the first time teaching this particular class, so there were a few...umm...interesting obstacles. I was told that there were "about 15 or so" students enrolled, but there ended up being 27 friggin people! Just one of many surprises.

It all turned out well and everyone passed the exam...so, hopefully ya'll learned something. Now, go out there and victimize help some people in the wilderness!

“Wow, five whole pictures! It took me hours to look through them. I like the idea of an emergency shelter, but I somehow get the idea that if Pennsy got stranded, he break out three or four tents and spend the afternoon deciding which one to set up!

Geez, that AmyG is the cutest wilderness rescuer I've ever known. Someday, I'll have to fall off a cliff or break a bone or something just so she can save me!!!

To all TT'ers, this course is most definitely worth the money, time and effort. You should think about attending a course. As a side note, for anyone living in the NE, try to get enrolled in a class given by AmyG...she rocks!!”
