get back out and do some hiking and rock climbing. I have been laid up for the last couple of months with a injury. So today three of my younger girls and I packed up some gear, about 30 lbs. worth and headed up to Sewanee Mountain, which is a short drive for us and did short hike out to the cliffs, about 1.5 miles one way. Each of us carried a rope and I was the mule and carried the pack. Once there we met up with some of our other buds and set up the anchors for top-roping. I had a hard time getting down the top of the mountain due to the injury but made it. Once we set up the belay's and climbed in the harness's and put on the shoes it was my turn to blast off. I wasn't to sure about this, because I have been trying off and on for over a month to get back on the rock but this time I could handle the pain. It was awesome to reach the top and turn around and see for miles down the valley below. I made two climbs and the girls each made one a piece. Our climbing buds had a great time also. We ate all of the food we brought in which was great, lighten the load out too. After this we cleaned up the routes of our gear and made the hike back out. The Water table is high up there and waterfalls are everywhere. Sure was sweet to have done it again.

that sounds great catdog. I didn't do any rock climbing, but I did get to take my kids out fishing in the Indian River Lagoon (estuary). We fished off the walkway under one of the bridges. We don't really know what the heck we're doing, but we learn a little more each time we go. Today some old scroungy looking guy - he was real friendly though, gave us lots of good advice so we should do a little better next time. Its just great being outdoors with the kids. We did see a manatee today - he swam right under the bridge about 15 feet from us.

Manatee's
are cool. I watch a show a few days back about them. Seems like they are a endangered species. Old scroungy people have some great stories though don't they.

Threatened, technically
almost endangered. They are cool, kinda like big swimming cows. This old guy was a trip, a little drunk I think, and toothless. He was cool though and helped show us a lot of things. I grew up fishing in lakes and don't know diddly squat about this salt water stuff.
