WHTF? Where's the boobs? PS. Go Jr.!” 1:10:25 PM 2/15/04 “the boobs are in the stands” 1:45:59 PM 2/15/04 “I tuned in a for a minute and Bush was on the track hob-nobbin with the drivers. I also saw a pregnant woman with a teeshirt that had an arrow pointing at her belly and said future Jeff Gordon fan lol” 2:06:34 PM 2/15/04 “cant blame ya for wanting to see leanne rimes naked tho. she is pretty hot, even if she is too young for you.” 2:39:47 PM 2/15/04 “NASCAR rocks. I love going to Bristol to watch races. There's always a ton of wrecks and the drivers act like fools then.” 2:44:11 PM 2/15/04 “streamweaver....i bet she had a beer in her hand too.” 4:03:09 PM 2/15/04 “Dub, your right, Bristol kicks A$$. I love Nascar.” 4:05:32 PM 2/15/04 “Nothing better then watching cars go round and round! ????? 8\” 4:15:15 PM 2/15/04 “Nothing better then watching cars go round and round! Typical of someone who's never seen a live race. Go watch one sometime and you might change your mind.” 4:30:31 PM 2/15/04 “I have on TV and it just does not spark up much intrest. 8\” 4:32:03 PM 2/15/04 “why do ppl always assume that the whole reason somebody doesnt like something is because theyve never tried it? is this thing that you like so irresistible that anyone who tries it has no choice but to like it, so that the only ppl who dont like it havent tried it? has it ever occurred that maybe some ppl have tried it and didnt like it?” 4:36:27 PM 2/15/04 “Nascar=boring!! I have seen it live and it is still boring. Now the women in the stands is another story...woooohooo” 4:54:26 PM 2/15/04 “The Boob said "Gentlemen, Srart your engines" Wonder if that bunch is smart enough to realize that Dubya was there in 2000 (an election year), and 2004 (an election year) and his father was there in 1980 (an election year).” 5:43:52 PM 2/15/04 “youre talking about a bunch who think gourmet dining is having three different kinds of dip for their pretzels!” 6:00:03 PM 2/15/04 “Srart Your Engines??? Judging by the applause that the President got, I think they knew it was an election year.” 6:10:46 PM 2/15/04 “Sure "srart" is redneck for "start". Figures that Bush would appeal to a lot of people who have dual relatives (Cousin-sister, cousin-wife, etc) Wonder how much it cost the American taxpayer in airplane fuel, security costs, for that trip?” 6:23:40 PM 2/15/04 “Wrong. Every redneck knows how to spell Start Your Engines. It is the last verse on the Star Spangled Banner.” 6:33:01 PM 2/15/04 “No, Mr. Nice Guy, the last verse is "PLAY BALL"! Gosh, everybody knows that!” 6:56:22 PM 2/15/04 “Nothing better than watching cars go round and round? What about backpacking?” 7:29:08 PM 2/15/04 “I don't like NASCAR much but I'd never tell anyone that in the Catskills.” 7:34:23 PM 2/15/04 “NASCAR = speeding white-boy viagra ads. Who likes this?” 7:38:29 PM 2/15/04 “Backpacking is the best sport in the WHOLE FRICKEN UNIVERSE!!!!! 8)” 7:41:39 PM 2/15/04 “This site seems to be dominated by narrow minded people who stereotype everyone. Too bad.” 7:50:16 PM 2/15/04 “You're right, Mr. Nice Guy. There are other sites, though. Good Luck!” 7:52:32 PM 2/15/04 I Admit “I love NASCAR. And now that I have Tivo I don't have to worry about missing the race when I go backpacking. My boy Mikey sure went for a ride though.” 8:40:43 PM 2/15/04 “why do ppl always assume that the whole reason somebody doesnt like something is because theyve never tried it? How can you tell if you don't like something until you try it? I mean, I used to hate broccoli as a kid...but how would I know to hate it unless I tried it? Then as an adult how would I know if I still hated it unless I tried it? NASCAR is the number one spectator sport in the United States where as soccer is number one in the rest of the world. So that says something about NASCAR. However, I do find it a little boring on TV. Watching a live race is way different. And it is okay to not like something. NASCAR like backpacking isn't for everyone. I guess I'm biased as where I'm from when there is a NASCAR race, the number one radio station in town stops normal programming to air the race. Viva la south!” 9:11:07 PM 2/15/04 “Personally, I am not overly interested in Nascar racing. Give me an old fashioned demolition derby anyday. But, that's a non-issue to me. If you enjoy it, hey, all power to ya. I enjoy it at times in small doses. But, my point was about Bush. I was reading last week about a little controversy concerning certain drivers touting religion through advertisement during the events, whether it be printed on the cars or just verbally said. Some folks are saying that they shouldn't be using the sport to proselytize. I didn't see it or hear what Bush said. Just wondering if this was an election year effort to stroke the religious right a little...” 10:32:36 PM 2/15/04 “If you think Nascar fans are predominantly from the religious right, you should go to a race sometime and see why that isn't true. As a side note, I would think freedom of speech would allow the drivers to tout the religion of their choice. As far as NASCAR fans being a bunch of one-eyed hybrids, that is a common misconception among uninformed elitists.” 10:58:51 PM 2/15/04 “Now, Stickie. I just posed a question concerning election tactics. My wording delibreately did not pass judgment on NASCAR fans. I should not have used 'religious right' there, though. I meant a looser term, but the right wording escapes me from tiredness now. Forgive me???” 11:06:07 PM 2/15/04 “And you are right about freedom of speech. Again, I said that 'some people' raised a concern (from the articles I read). I didn't say I was one of them...” 11:07:59 PM 2/15/04 Treebeard “yes it is a gimmick in the election year. NASCAR has been the fastest growing sport in the USA for like the past 5 years in a row. All the major tracks have expanded in that time frame. i.e. LOTS and LOTS of votes are at the track!” 11:12:01 PM 2/15/04 “Oh yeah, and you, me and everybody else here and elsewhere paid for his ticket today!” 11:12:48 PM 2/15/04 “That's really what I was getting at, Roam. I wasn't looking to stir up the 'political pot' there. I really only mentioned the articles to see if anyone else had read about this. It was only last week...” 11:14:00 PM 2/15/04 “haven't read anything, except the above discussion about his appearance today. You still wanna trade patches, Tree?” 11:17:18 PM 2/15/04 Tree no worries, mahn. “I knew as soon as I posted it you would think it was directed at you, but it wasn't. I was simply making an observation about the proselytizing thing, because it seems so trivial. The remarks about the perception of NASCAR fans weren't related to your post at all, I just didn't feel like separating my topics.” 11:38:42 PM 2/15/04 “Don't those people get dizzy going around and around and around and around and around and around and around like that? <YAWN> Seen this? http://www.victorybydesign.com” 12:27:09 AM 2/16/04 “I would like to have one of the new Ford GTs. Of course, I would prefer one of the original GT40s the new one is based on. While I'm at it, could I have 275 million dollars (after taxes)?” 12:37:19 AM 2/16/04 “If only they weighed over 6000 pounds and you used it for work, you could write off the first $90,000, right? I heard someone say once that if wanted a collectable Ferrari, $200,000 was just the ante to get into the game. Check out the individual episodes....” 12:57:32 AM 2/16/04 “NASCAR is a sport in the same way that knitting is construction. Driving is not an athletic event. You guys enjoy what you want, but spectacle and competition does not make sport. If we start having televised Doom 3 matches, I'm blaming NASCAR.” 12:58:56 AM 2/16/04 “Well we have the official word from the narrow minded elitist. If it doesn't fit in his tiny scope of things it just does not fit.” 7:02:00 AM 2/16/04 “Only on TT can people actually fight about racing. Sheesh! The most ironic part is the people who equate NASCAR fans with ignorant rednecks, thereby showing their own ignorance. LOL!” 8:21:31 AM 2/16/04 “"Driving is not an athletic event" HA Driving a car for 3-4 hours, wearing a nomex body suit in 100 degree heat isn't work? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't those cars also lack power stearing? It's pure endurance, plus try hitting a wall at 150+ mph and tell me how gentel it is.” 8:35:30 AM 2/16/04 “I'm really not into nascar, but I read about its origins in the moonshine industry, and it became more interesting. The runners would hotrod a car, and it wouldn't last much more than 6 months of hard running before they'd have to go buy a new one.” 8:39:45 AM 2/16/04 “Driving a car for 3-4 hours, wearing a nomex body suit in 100 degree heat isn't work? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't those cars also lack power stearing?" Driving in the south in the middle of summer is tough with a fire suite, helmet and gloves on. If you didn’t know anything about racing it wouldn’t seem like it’d be hard but driving 1’ from the guy in front of you going 170 on top of the heat in the car being anywhere from 100-130 and it ain’t easy. I’ve seen a few races where they had to drag the winner from the car and sit him down for some oxygen. They do have power steering. I remember one Bristol race where Mark Martin’s power steering went out and he had to run the whole race without it. Not many guys could do that.” 8:47:05 AM 2/16/04 9:36:43 AM 2/16/04 “Nascar instructions Keep pedal to the metal Continue left turn” 9:47:04 AM 2/16/04 “NASCAR? I can take it or leave it. Give me sprint cars on a 1/4 or 1/2 mile track. Now that's racing.” 9:49:44 AM 2/16/04 “Also, I meant to say DIRT track. World of Outlaws. The greatest show on dirt.” 9:53:23 AM 2/16/04 “it may be hard, sweaty work, but it still aint a sport. by that reasoning, working in a steel mill is a sport” 10:03:55 AM 2/16/04 “I really haven't been a NASCAR fan since Dale hit the wall 3 yrs ago and prior to that I wouldn't say I was a big NASCAR fan even though I drove a Monte for awhile. BUT, I can understand the excitement since I drive daily and I know how connected and dependent Americans are to their auto's. The auto, from it's advent, has been deeply rooted into the American way life. Driving while not a freedom provides us with a sense of freedom, I believe. In some regards you are what you drive, it's an expression of one's personality and individuality. Nascar doesn't excite me as much as the 'crotch rockets' do. Those guys are NUTS. I not a big fan of the ovals. I much rather watch racing that has a few more curves and hills in it. There seems to be more of a challenge in those tracks than just standing on the pedal for 3 to 4 hrs going around a oval. If I had the cash I would try to do some vintage racing with the Morgan+8. She rides like she's on rails. I miss my old 300zx Turbo. Though she wasn't the fastest, I did really enjoyed hearing that turbo whine when I would hit the power band. Morning rush hour??? Its like the Indy 500 here. Its frightening how many people aren't paying attention while driving and its a miracle there aren't more accidents.” 10:17:14 AM 2/16/04
