Republicans are heavily subsidized by the oil, coal, and nuclear industries. Democrats may get $1 for every $10000. PTC a wind production tax credit cannot pass a bipartisan congress without being added onto the Republicans energy bill. which subsidizes the coal, oil, and nuclear industries. plus, if we had a clean, green energy machine and American energy independence, the republican party would lose power.
Now look at the incentives we have for using solar, wind, and hydrogen. Here in Phoenix, you cannot have solar panels that can be seen from off the property. You can't find a hydrogen fuel pump, and wind and solar are not tax-deductible. But, coal and uranium mines are highly subsidized. And though their workers are paying the price with their health and getting reimbursed through health care providers for their suffering; the people who live near the coal plants are not re-imbursed. If gas milage was improved by .04% we wouldn't need to drill in ANWR. So think about the big picture. renewable resources versus oil, coal, nuclear production and the war machine for the energy resources we need for food production for our children.

Furthermore, my Dad and Uncle were in Nam. It just so happens that my Uncle was "volunteered" to be a gunner on a river boat out there. I don't know if it's the same boat that Kerry commanded, but it's similar. I asked my dad many years ago why my uncle never talked about his experiences over there. Dad said something must have happened, because he NEVER spoke of what happened. Well the guy is my godfather, and one day he opned up to me, while helping me with a paper on Vietnam for a course I was taking in college. He said that while they patrolled, people took pot shots at them all day. He was in a constant state of fear. During one mission, they attacked a position that was firing on them. My uncle shot toward the area where the fire was coming. It turns out, the front gun jammed, and he was the only one firing within range. When they went to shore to check the situation..... three dead VC. My uncle said he saw pictures of the VC's kids that he just killed, and has had to live with it every day.

I have a question for our Military peeps out there:

Would it be fair to say that, if one was to receive one of these types of wounds, the situation would require some sort of explosive device, exploded close enough to the person, in which said explosive device could have the capiblity to inject -- if you will -- small, jagged metal objects (objects designed by the "bomb makers" to cause serious injury or in some cases, death) into the persons body? Going one further, would it ALSO be a fair statement to say that when the above situation came about, that that situation would come with a shock vibration and loud noise, much similar to an unexpected clap of thunder? I don't about you, but that would really make my ass release it's contents, multiple times.

I have not served my country, but I do know a bunch who have. IMHO, this "let's see just HOW hurt he got" line that some, not all, but some have used is a complete red herring. To those folks: There's a big difference between getting a piece of metal taken out of your ass, and staying state side in the Guard; that is not to say that Guard is less important---so sit right back down. That IS to say that when Bush was serving, he didn't have to worry about Charlie taking his ass out. Kerry did.

Am I mistaken that Kerry is also a Silver Star winner? Why haven't we deconstructed that moment in time?

Nigal - We have to agree on the fact, like I have pointed out before, in the election race, botyh sides are going to capitalize on there strenghts. Kerry has medals, he'll use them and should. I just have not seen anything that helps support that way of thinking. The thing that scares me about Kerry is his absolute hatred for the intelligence community. He has always sought to either cut their funding (even after the first WTC bombing). He can hardly be called strong on defense either. With his past can we honestly say he would be strong on defense? He doesn’t even have to carry on Bush’s war on terrorism to be acceptable but this guy would clearly be a danger to the defense budget. I think it’d be safe to say that he would make Clinton’s cutting look poultry. To me this is not the type of guy to have in office while there are groups calling for the destruction of America.

I can take a liberal but not one that is soooo far left. How far left is he? The National Journal rated his voting record on a scale of 1-100 (100 being the ultimate liberal) and he ranked more liberal than the likes of Barbara Boxer, Tom Harkin and here’s the plugger, Ted Kennedy. Unacceptable. I’d vote for Gore before I’d vote for Kerry.
