BB, when I think neither person was worthy of the office why would I vote just to vote.

I didn't like Bush but I am not that shallow to vote for Kerry because of that. I looked at what both had to offer and nothing impressed me.

More people should vote their gut feeling than voting just to vote.

I think Kerry did have a problem on the war. An antiwar candidate was not going to win the election. However, he needed to keep the antiwar people. That's why he did that middle road thing.

But, honestly, the election was almost exactly like it was in 2000. For the most part, the election was fought within a rigid demographic structure. And it was decided on the strength of the local and state parties in Ohio and Florida. I watch Toledo TV and the Ohio Democratic Party is completely F'ed up. And Florida has a stronger Republican Party than Democratic Party.

So, Democrats need to run for more school board seats and state rep. posts. Every state seat in Ohio should get national money in the next four years.

The Democrats have made good choices in Senate Leadership. Reid is Pro-Life. Durban is from Illinois. Stabenow is from Michigan. Pick a candidate from a battleground state and restructure the nominating process to stress the battleground states.

I have no problems with most republicans...if McCain runs next time around I will probably vote for him.

But Bush, the Religious Right along with the Neocons will ruin this country.

What Religious right? That was another excuse cooked up by Democrats. Why can't Democrats just admit that they have become way too liberal for their own good? Find a moderate candidate. Bush was ripe for picking, but the left wing of the Democratic party is in the drivers seat. It was not the religious right it was the moderates that elected the President.

Stuff your payback in your sock.

I saw a poll that listed the favorites for the 2008 Republican nomination. McCain and Giuliani get 10%. Powell and Condi Rice get 2%. I think it's setting up like a dream race for the religious right. McCain and Giuliani would split the moderate vote.

I think that Lindsey Graham is the man.

You seem to have difficulty with your reading comprehension.

I am not a Liberal.

The Religious Right is very real.
The Neocons are very real.

I see you chose to ignore my comment that they are going to destroy this country.

There are a great many Moderates in the Republican Party that are very concerned.

You could start here

This is a reprint from the DallasNews.

"There is no future for moderate and progressive Republicans in the Republican Party," said Jim Scarantino, president of the centrist GOP group Mainstream 2004. "The far right wing and the fanatics have seized control."

You have to sign up to read it at the Dalles News, but here you go..

btw, thanks, I knew you would pull that. I found it on several other sites, but that wouldn't have been as much fun.

Thank you....from the site you provided...

"As a registered Republican, I am dismayed at the state of the party and am seriously considering switching my registration to Democrat as I watch my party taken over by the extreme right. It is time for moderate Republicans to wake up and to take Tim - Kissimmee, "

"My big concern with the present leadership in the Republican party is that they are ignoring our economy by apparently supporting the outsourcing of American jobs overseas, especially in manufacturing and also highly technical and skilled jobs, and also service jobs and especially to China. Yet China is a member of the WTO, but we do not enforce trade laws with them that the are breaking,
Paul - Towanda,"

"A Call to our Grand Old Party:
COME BACK TO THE MAINSTREAM

As Republican former Governors, Senators and public officials,
we urge our party to renew its allegiance to the proven, common sense values which unite America.

Instead of partisan ideology - which increasingly has led moderates to leave the party - what's needed is a speedy return to the pragmatic, problem-solving mainstream. Here's how the President and Republican-majority Congress can send that clear signal to the nation:

Stop weakening environmental law - and once again protect our air, water and public lands as Teddy Roosevelt and other great Republican leaders intended;

Restore fiscal responsibility - with "pay-as-you-go" budget discipline to end record deficits that jeopardize economic growth;
Put the health of millions first - and clear the way for embryonic stem cell research;

Appoint mainstream federal judges - and respect the Constitution;
Make America safer - and protect cities and towns, still vulnerable three years after 9/11, by securing chemical and nuclear plants and shipping containers;

Rebuild our alliances – with real partnerships and restore America’s standing in the world.
By returning to the mainstream in these ways, our party can regain the trust of a divided nation and earn a vote of confidence in November."

from an email
The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada
has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols
to stop the illegal immigration.

The re-election of President Bush is prompting the exodus among
leftleaning citizens who fear they'll soon be required to hunt, pray
and agree with Bill O'Reilly.

Canadian border farmers say it's not uncommon to see dozens of
sociology professors, animal rights activists and Unitarians crossing
their fields at night.

''I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood
producer huddled in the barn," said Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield,
whose acreage borders North Dakota.

The producer was cold, exhausted and hungry.

''He asked me if I could spare a latte and some free-range chicken.
When I said I didn't have any, he left. Didn't even get a chance to
show him my screenplay, eh?"

In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher
fences, but the liberals scaled them. So he tried installing speakers
that blare Rush Limbaugh across the fields.

''Not real effective," he said. ''The liberals still got through, and
Rush annoyed the cows so much they wouldn't give milk."

Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals
near the Canadian border, pack them into Volvo station wagons, drive
them across the border and leave them to fend for themselves.

''A lot of these people are not prepared for rugged conditions," an
Ontario border patrolman said. ''I found one carload without a drop of
drinking water. They did have a nice little Napa Valley cabernet,
though."

When liberals are caught, they're sent back across the border, often
wailing loudly that they fear retribution from conservatives. Rumors
have been circulating about the Bush administration establishing
re-education camps in which liberals will be forced to drink domestic
beer and watch NASCAR.

In the days since the election, liberals have turned to sometimes
ingenious ways of crossing the border.

Some have taken to posing as senior citizens on bus trips to buy cheap
Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half-dozen young vegans
disguised in powdered wigs, Canadian immigration authorities began
stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior-citizen passengers.

''If they can't identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk
Show, we get suspicious about their age," an official said.

Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are
creating an organic-broccoli shortage and renting all the good Susan
Sarandon movies..

''I feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just
can't support them," an Ottawa resident said. ''How many art-history
majors does one country need?"

In an effort to ease tensions between the United States and Canada,
Vice President Dick Cheney met with the Canadian ambassador and
pledged that the administration would take steps to reassure liberals,
a source close to Cheney said.

''We're going to have some Peter, Paul & Mary concerts. And we might
put some endangered species on postage stamps. The president is
determined to reach out."
