I expect a Presidential candidate to stand on his merit. His merit should not be based upon distain for the incumbent. I think in this case however that Kerry's primary merit is that Democrats hate President Bush. Not much of a political platform.

Ridiculous. Your assertion is that presidential elections happen in a vacuum and that each candidate is judged based on closeness to some ethereal presidential ideal. Nonsense.

Kerry was not my first choice of a candidate from the democratic side, but he was the choice of the majority of voters in the primaries. So now, I have a choice between, essentially, two candidates.

Bush's traits and record are just as relevent to that decision as Kerry's. Trying to remove him from it altogether is a lame ploy to try to stir divisiveness, and it's not going to work.

Bush has done more to unite the democratic party than the dems have, on that I'll grant you have a point. That does NOT mean that Kerry is a non-viable candidate on his own, as you're trying to suggest.

It's like standing at a fork in the road, where one path leads through an alligator infested swamp, and the other is all uphill. You're trying to convince me that if it weren't for the swamp, i wouldn't want to walk uphill. Brilliant.
