cause they went up Mt. LeConte
without me. Well blah! I can go too! LOL
Just kidding, dudes. I did go today by myself. It was pretty deserted. Shelter had two fellows who showed up as I was walking back from the rock pile past it.
They had apparently busted themselves coming up Alum Cave Trail without crampons. One was really bellyaching about it. I felt bad for him, but ya just can't do it very well with plain old hiking boots on that ice.
I found out today the substitute groundskeeper is my neighbor! He lives a mile from me and is a real nice guy. Invited me in for a cuppa. I was pretty suprised. I thought that lodge shut down tight for the Winter. Especially after reading Nashvillehiker's trip report. It was a great day for a climb. I'll put up a photo later.

Alum Cave Trail Up & Back
Since I didn't have a buddy today to help with a shuttle vehicle.
I wanted to do Alum Cave primarily because it is the steepest, rockiest, and most ice. New crampons worked great. I went all alone. No problems. I REALLY like the new crampons! They work fantastic. I made it to the lodge and to the true summit. My time was good and so was the weather. Pretty views today for sure.

hey Tilt
Waking up in 4 degree gusty weather there is no way to be hot. I think we did just fine.

I made it up in 2 hrs 55 min. Not bad for an old lady! I was James Brown on Hollywood Hot Tubs today. I like to burnt up. That was the only bad thing. Women pushing 40 should not hike Mt. LeConte in February when its above 35 degrees. LMAO...... I'd have been perfectly comfortable in the snow the weekend you and Opie went. I thought about that today and laughed. The view was clear as crystal today. I talked to Bob about the Lowes Creek thing today. He nearly fell out. He's not into offtrail stuff.
Thanks Treknngirl. :-)
Its really pretty on that side of the mtn.
Funniest thing that happened today was this big guy. Real macho dude is coming down the trail as I'm going up. He says "You shouldn't be coming up here without crampons." I invaded his personal space, looked him in the eyes and grinned. Never opened my mouth. He looked down at my feet, said "Oh." and kept going.

Great trail, but it is hard to imagine doing it in icy conditions, even with crampons. You really blasted up there!

Why were you so surprised you got invited for coffee??

Oh some are hot enough
for me. Jeffers is my favorite TT hottie. He's a triple X hottie to be precise. Then lets see, magellansky is at least a double X hottie. And purty soon I'll be able to say the same of that sweet looking nashvillehiker, JO and Waterdog. I'm an admitted snob and will select my company without any apologies. I did tell Towndawg who is also a pet of mine..... to please let me know like ASAP... the exact dates for Titanium Chef 2004 would be so I could attend. That way another fabuloso TT Hot Momma won't be pissed at me ... (that would be Gemini)for not showing up. I am even planning on working 2 weekends in a row so I can be there fo sho. to boot I'm planning the Waterfall Wanderings get together AROUND it. I am bringing a lurker on here with me as company and baby he is HOT! now... what was that you were saying? I hear you chirpin, but I don't know what tree you're in?!

Phil.... sorry. to answer you
I was suprised because I didn't know that anyone was up there in the lodge. I thought it closed down completely for Winter. Found out that is wrong and that a groundskeeper is up there year round. The guy who was there is a replacement dude. He is a neighbor of mine and a very fine gentleman. He only lives across the river from me! It was a special treat.
