Pheonix backpacker stove
have been using my Pheonix backpacker for 25 plus years. It has always worked like a champ and has never let me down even at 12kfeet and zero degrees. I have never even put a wrench on it. I even still have the directions, wrench. funnel and all that came with it.

For some stupid reason I decided to clean it and in the process stripped the valve stem and it will no longer work. I am sick. every one else is now carrying the little pepsi stoves etc and laughing at my heavy old thing but I boil water in half the time they do and it is now a conversation peice.
Does any one have parts or another stove that they would sell.

Thanks

Nice site Lt,
My brother has one of those MSR no-9 stoves. And I met a guy in the Adirondacks that was using one of the Swedish ones, it had a carrying case that weighed about 2 lbs plus the stove and fuel.

Tnx Lt hiker. I checked out that site also . I find the directions and parts list for the stove abut no stove.
It came in a tin can type case. I affectionately call it "The Bomb" I sure will miss it. It has been a good one.

This guy has an astounding collection of stoves and info on stoves:

http://stovecollector.tripod.com/emps2002.htm

According to him, the Phoenix Backpacker is a copy of the Phoebus 725. Here's a link to a Phoebus on e-bay:

Does that look like your stove? $75 for a 25 year old stove. Yikes! I guess it is a collectors item.

I hope this helps.

This is kind of a stretch, but try contacting the Optimus repair shop (A&H in Tustin, Calif). They concnetrate on the slightly 'exotic' Optimus stoves, but even if they can't repair your brand, they might be able to give you the name of someone who can do it. Look them up at Optimus.com. and send them an email. E-mail don't cost big $$$ and it might be a godsend if you really want to keep using that good ol' stove.

BTW, I bought a used Optimus 8B off of A&H a few years ago and its been running great. My MSR Whisperlite almost never sees the backcountry any more.

Try this
Hi there
I feel with you. Owning a Phoebus (the original from which the Phoenix was cloned), I daresay that most parts from the 625 model should fit the 725 (and maybe its Japanese clone PHOENIX). I did not find out exactly what your problem was. If it is only the graphite packing, you may get replacements.
With a little work, the Optimus spares can be used (Optimus 8R have the same outer diameter, are half as long so you take two pieces, and only adjust the inner hole slightly).

For other parts, look here or leave a message:
