For a real "dump experience" check out Millie and Al's on the west side of 18th Street a but south of Columbia Road.

Somehow I am not surprised you know this...

Hey hey, that dump has been there since before I went there in '78 and it looks just as trashy.

Been to Millie & Al's once, just once.

i like dumps! that place sounds cool.

the more i think about it, the more i would vote for Brickskellers or something a little more low-key than Dan's. that place might suck if we didn't get a table, and those tables are pretty small anyway...

oh yeah, how's Millie & Al's? chill? that sounds sorta like a "been once, never going back," LOL!

Back in the '70s they had a cool juke box......Elvis, Buddy Holly, Little Richard.........and some "modern" stuff too.

Cheap draft beer

Preference? I put my trust in the locals, ask Treebeard. Low key, reasonable $, and character are my preferences.

Hey this might actually happen!

And Pathman is a blast to be around. Sorry I am going to miss you, dude! I am serious about our trek out west though!

well, what-say we meet at Millie & Al's, it sounds like it has character alright! and the good thing about Adam's Morgan is, if you don't like the bar you're at, there are eleventy-million more right there.

anybody have any objections to that?

crap, wrong webpage, LOL! here we go... Millie & Al's

Re: ynami. Good deal. This place looked odd from their add on my walking map, but the review sounds good. It would make a good plan B. We could roast Stratdewd in absencia and listen to da blues.

Or just to add to the confusion you could all come to the Hill. Or if pathman wants the other political experience we can drink with the white house staffers in the old ebit grill.
ynamiynami

odd? you mean the neon boobies on the sign? LOL! yeah, that place is always fun, good idea.

That reminds me, guess who was in my hotel last night?

Around 5 the place was swarming with security, checking ID's at the sidewalk.

I overheard a guy say he got kicked out of his room by the Secret Service and the hotel switched him to a suite.

There were some guys wearing jeans and golf/tennis shirts that stuck out like sore thumbs.

When I came back there were about a 100 people dressed to the T, all the men in dark suits, smoking cigars and drinking in the Lobby Loungs.

But I missed seeing GW. I was told the fundraiser went for $2000/plate.

Wow, will I see Toby and Josh? oops. Back to reality.

woooo, must be a nice hotel, Pathman!

ynami, way to confuse me even more! ;-)

Madams Organ is good, but it gets very busy of a Friday night. And bearmagnet got beaten up by a girl last time he was there.

Were Barb and Jenna drinking in the lounge?

back to meetings. Ya'll hash it out, but Millie and Als sounds like a good start for me. Funny too. I used to work for family carpentery company, here when in HS. They were all from WVA.

"But I missed seeing GW. I was told the fundraiser went for $2000/plate."

A gathering of commoners, how quaint!

In '79 I lived in a crappy old rowhouse on Ontario Road just a five-minute walk from those dives.
MarkO

Madams Organ Rocks!!!!! It's cheaper than most but it's not low key. The again, seeing women on the bar dancing without panties on can make it worthwhile! Or can make it dangerous. Maybe Jewel will be there?...sigh.

Old Ebbit is nice. How about Hawk & Dove?

BTW - Getting beat up was half the fun! If we got a table it wouldn't be so bad but I've never been there that early.
bearmagnet

well easy walk home for me if we go to the hawk and dove
ynamiynami

4/01/04

Easy stagger, ynami?
MarkO
2:56:25 PM
4/01/04

Well, I think we should be in the Adams Morgan area so I don't mistakenly get into any cabs.
bearmagnet
2:57:07 PM
4/01/04

well I staggered home from there last friday.
ynamiynami
3:54:54 PM

You walked to Capitol Hill from Adams Morgan???
bearmagnet

Hawk and Dove on Penn SE

What is this, Congress?
I could be drunk tomorrow night before the DC crowd decides where to go.
Pathman

PS

by low key, I don't mean a piano bar, just casual. Jeans ok, Brooks Brothers not required.
Pathman
8:40:13 PM
4/01/04

"Congress," LOL! for real, yo! but since i am president of the world, i am going to say we go to Brickskellers, b/c i have heard awesome things about it, and i think it sounds perfect: metro accessible, and they have liquor and wine, in addition to beer. okay? okay! 7:00 sound good to everyone?
lyra
9:17:39 PM
4/01/04

Hearing no objections
that's good for me. 7pm Brickskellers is where I will be unless the president of the world declares a global emergency and changes her mind.
Pathman
9:21:13 PM

awesome! :-)

7pm?????
Good God! How late will you be there?
bearmagnet
9:55:01 AM
4/02/04

LOL! i assume long enough for eating and drinking and making merry. were you thinking more along the lines of a late-night drunkfest? ;-) the rest of us are old, we can't take that anymore! okay, well i'm old, i don't know about the other two dudes...

think you can make it there, even if it's after 7?
lyra
10:02:44 AM
4/02/04

What's old got to do with it? I bet I am older than though.

My secret to late night partying: coffee (shhhhhhhhhhh)

I'll be lucky to get out of work by 6. I will get there at some point!
bearmagnet
10:11:56 AM
4/02/04

yikes, you work late! okay, sounds good...i will just have to try every kind of beer they have, so i'm sure we'll be there for awhile. j/k! actually, i've had a sore throat for a week, so i think i'll take it easy (famous last words).
lyra
10:17:30 AM
4/02/04

Making excuses already lyra?
ynamiynami
10:18:57 AM
4/02/04

alcohol will numb the pain, i'm sure. ;-) and it kills germs!
lyra
10:21:21 AM
4/02/04

Imperial Stout will sooth the throat.
bearmagnet
10:26:12 AM
4/02/04

And how will I recognize anyone? Or do we play a game?
bearmagnet
12:29:16 PM
4/02/04

Everybody but bearmagnet carry a big keychain full of keys.
bitpusher

Lyra will be the one staggering around, swearing and brawling with anyone that'll take her on.
ynamiynami
12:34:15 PM

So I should look for a mean drunk swinging a lot of keys?
