Stormbringer, you are a doubting Thomas.

This world needs more like you who keep asking why instead of accepting "the word".

I agree Bison. If someone accepts what someone says at face value and enters into something so important that is a weak base for faith. People who answer an impromptu alter call and convert on the spot tend to fall right back into their old lives after a short time…or they end up like Buck and believe whatever is told to him.

Anything that can't stand up to the "Why?" question isn't strong enough to serve you a purpose in life's struggles.

"then whats the point of asking "why"?"

To consider all things before deciding what is truth...

Many people accept something after questioning it, It seems that some people here can't understand that many Christians who accept the Bible as the word of God came to this belief through questioning, not through being told what to believe.

I watched a little bit on the History Channel that was on REAL late. Too bad I was completly hammered, but I do remember seeing in the piece that they cam right out, unbiased and everything, that the Jews played a HUGE role in nailing Christ to the cross. I love a piece that has no biased and no "alterier" (sp?) motive, like what I saw. They didn't pull any punches, that was for sure, and told it like it was.

Maybe the peeps out there should take a look at stuff like this that isn't tainted by the church.

I've had christians tell me, "But they even took out the part where Piolate tells the Jews that Jesus' blood was on their hands!" when if fact it wasn't taken out but the line simply wasn't subtitled. So it's still in there. LOL!

I reread the article and you're right Bison, it was 27:25...

"Apparently seeking to curry favor, Gibson announced a few weeks ago that he had cut the scene where a Jewish mob yells for the blood of Jesus to descend on the heads of its children (a scene that occurs in only one of the four contradictory Gospels). Gibson lied. The scene is still there, spoken in Aramaic. Only the English subtitle has been removed."

"I think it's best to ask "why?" and then accept the word"

"many Christians who accept the Bible as the word of God came to this belief through questioning, "

if you mean that thru questioning they come to accept the bible as the word of god, then that is fine. however, its not a conclusion you can reason. at best, its circumstantial evidence. ultimately, it has to be taken on faith, which is mutually exclusive from reason. thats the point of faith.

2 hr torture scene. pointless. i think my biggest problem with the movie is that it starts with the garden of gethsemane. its from that point forward christ is no longer a pro-active figure, and just someone who is acted upon, rather than acts. from a literary or artistic pov, thats not a very strong protagonist. more time should have been invested in building sympathy for christ. viewers need to know "why was the suffering important?" "how did this happen?" overall, a disappointing movie.

"Unlike Mel Gibson's notorious
'The Passion of the Christ,' ABC's movie ['Judas'] seems happily
lacking in anti-Semitic aspersions. Writer Tom Fontana, whose
impressive credits include the uncompromising 'Oz' on HBO, has
Pontius Pilate's wife tell her husband, as the assassination of
Jesus is plotted on Palm Sunday: 'Fix it so the Jews themselves
are held responsible.' It might have been better still if the
conversation had continued with Pilate scoffing, 'Who'd believe
that?' and his wife replying, 'You can always find a few bigots
and idiots who'll believe anything.' Regardless, the Big Lie was
born, and two millennia later, Gibson would find a way to recycle
it and gross more than $200 million in the process. Surely his
parking space in Hell has already been reserved." --Washington

i have to say, some jews were portrayed as good, and some were portrayed as bad. they tried to make some sort of tragic hero out of pontius pilate, which i thought was kinda sleazy. much of the beating were carried out by roman soldiers. if anything, i think it could be seen as showing the ills of mob mentality

That review seems a bit harsh Strat. I wonder what this guy’s background is? On the surface it looks like he might be one of those catholic hating protestants. The things that are anti-Semitic in the movie are so subtle and obscure most Christians wouldn’t even recognize them.

Wow, thanks Buddha for the love and disrespect there Buddha. Nice to know you feel a big thing in my life is so absurd and a big joke to you simply because you don‘t agree with it. Care to take a dump on me too while you’re at it? I don’t normally even reply to ignorant comments like yours but it bothers me more coming from people I truly like.

You’ve really changed man.

Buddha Bear

And yes Nigal, I am a changed man. Religion has changed me. The hipocrasy, evangelism, and misguided beliefs of relgion are the main problems in the world, always have been, always will be. Now, even though we have a concept of seperation of church and state in this country, we have to become subject to these alleded religiuous morals, eventhough we live in a free country.

Freedom can only survive if everyone has tolerance. I was tolerant of religious folks, but since religious folks are not tolerant of my views, I finally said, screw it, the gloves are off.

Hence, my newly created belief of religion is a joke.

I didn’t attack your belief. I attacked your disrespect. Saying what someone believes is an absolute joke is dot disagreeing. It’s simply disrespect. Believe whatever you care to but at least be strong enough in that belief to not have to tear down someone else’s belief in order to attempt to validate your own beliefs.

Go ahead and have the last word because I have nothing else to say to you.
