Trail Leaders for CO Youth Backpacking Trips
What are you doing next summer? Big City Mountaineers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is in need of adults with strong backcountry hiking skills to volunteer as leaders for weeklong backpacking trips in Colorado with economically disadvantaged youth during Summer 2004. Each Big City Mountaineers trip places four volunteer adult leaders with five teens and an adult from the teens’ youth organization. During the trip each hiker makes discoveries about him/herself. The teens learn about nature and what they are capable of in this new setting. The adults learn about how they respond to and feel about troubled teens and the effects of the natural world on them. We do not expect every teen to become a backpacker or every leader a social worker, but for these few days, everything else in the world is on pause. This is a time for the teens and their adult mentors to teach and learn with each other far away from the normal constraints of life. Go to our website at www.bigcitymountaineers.org or email Erin at esovick@bigcitymountaineers.org for more information.

Nice to see that someone sees potential in Trail Talkers! I hope that Big City Mountaineers have a lot of success in bringing these kids onto the trail. They certainly would learn a few new things (and I mean the good things, too) from some of the TTers.

What is this an advertisement for pedophiles? I am sure the parents will be happy to know you solicited random internet sites looking for responsible adults.

Why don't you try www.nambla.org?
