My son turned 4 yesterday. He got a new scooter and the weather was just decent enough to get out and play.

Cute kids, for sure! My youngest daughter will be 3 on Saturday and she's getting a scooter as well. Seems to be a trend here!

I don't have kids to brag about, but I took my neice who is a year and a half up onto the AT near PA rt 183 the other week and she climbed over trees and hiked about a mile with me. Here are some pics.

no trail name was unvieiled yet... but
she was saying rock and bug a whole lot. Plus everytime we tried to pick her to carry her she said "NO". She even tried walking with a walking stick.

I thing 'NO' is the first word a girl learns, and it continues to be her favorite word the rest of their lives.
At least it was with the girls I dated. ;-)

What a cutie! That's a long way for a tiny girl like her. Kids should play with sticks as often as they can get away with it. Grown-ups are always taking good sticks from kids.

thanks Sass, you should have seen her climb over the downed tree and when she was walking with the hiking stick I almost died laughing.

Ford is my 6 year old son. He goes everywhere with me. At this point he has backpacked numerous times and has maybe 1,000 miles on him. Yeah, I am proud of him ;-)

I need to update my kids pic folder.

No is my 2 1/2 y.o. daughters favorite word. I hope she uses it exclusively from age 12 til 40.

Thanks! I give the little weasel little choice ;-) He has been backpacking now for 2 years with me. Last 2 years he has averaged 350 m.p.year. My secret is I let him whine as much as he wants - he'll be going down the trail crying and whining-but as soon as he sees other people he sucks it up till they pass. He can hike a 13 mile day and still have energy to run around a lake for 2 hours.
Only bad thing is he snores like a Lumberjack!!
And, yeah, he has identical versions of all my gear, sized for him.
