GOD’S EYE?

"Hubble telescope presented the world with pictures of a vast eye on the sky, whose resemblance to a human eye is nothing short of incredible; therefore it was named the “Eye of God”. NASA reports it is a photograph of the Helix Nebula, which is 650 light years away, and a trillion miles across.

How far and how big is that? If you drove 55 miles an hour, 24 hours a day, it would take 2510 years to get to it. If you had started driving when Christ was alive, you would still have 500 years to go!

As to how big, if we kept driving the same speed once you reached it, it would take you another 20,755 years to drive across in. That's almost ten times as wide as it is far away."

Tilt, you are the purveyor of heavenly bodies, I must have missed the day you posted this on your site. Wonder if they make a telescope small enough to fit in a backpack and yet strong enough to see some really cool stuff.

That's almost as big as Texas!

All kidding aside, great photo and good post!!!

Shoot, it would take longer than that to get there. The speed of light is about 186,000 miles per second. At least that's the number I recall.

That's the right number dayhiker. Even without a calculator, you can see that those numbers are off by many orders of magnitude.

just under 8 billion years to get there at 55 miles per hour.

Yep, that's a cool deal! I think I had that for my computer 'wallpaper' for a while.
