I'm moving to DC

“I'm coming to DC and I want to know who all of the DC area trail talkers are. For that matter, who are all of the Mid-Atlantic trail talkers?”

“I am going to be living about a mile west of UMD on University BLVD in College Park/ Hyattesville. It's just a temporary arrangement. I wanted to know if this area is ok. Tell me what you guys know!! Thanks”

“So sorry to hear that, nashvillehiker. I'm certainly not familiar with the area you'll be at, but I do know that DC unfortunately has some pretty rough criminals.

I know there are a few folks from the Baltimore area who may be able to help you out. I'm sure some will be chiming in soon.”

“I lived in Baltimore for a year and really enjoyed charm city. I am somewhat familiar with DC but not the area that I am going to be living come April 1st.”

“My family lives in Reading, PA so I get up to that area often. I like hiking around Port Clinton and Hawk Mt. I want to go to Ricketts Glen this summer. That place is way cool. There are tons of cool bushwaks back in the neighboring gamelands. Lots of waterfalls.”

i want to head up to rickett's glen. have yet to really hike there.”

“Ricketts Glen is awesome!! 40 waterfalls within the park's boundaries and tons more just outside. The falls on the otherside of Red Rock Mountain, in the game lands are even better than those inside the park.

It was supposed to be a national park but world war II stopped the plans from becoming reality.”

“Well I spend as much time in the mountains as I can. I have the blues right now because the smokies will be so far away!! 8 hour drive to my favorate mountain.”

“I have done the AT from 61 near Port Clinton to overby Hawk Mt. and Blue rocks so many times. I love climbing the rocks around Hawk Mt.

I went to school at Governor Mifflin and grew up in Mohnton. Small world.”

“the Smokies are a backpacking paradise. 800 miles of trail. Lots of elevation above 6000 feet. More ecosystems in one small area than anyplace in the world. Plus it is the home of Mt. LeConte, coolest mountain in the east.”

“new job. My family lives in PA and I want to be closer to them. Plus I like the BW area. I wish I were moving to Towson but I couldn't ink a job there.

Def hook up for a back pack. I tend to get out on to the trail right away. Maybe hit up Old Rag or something in Shenandoah.”

“You think, lyra? Isn't he near latino gangland? Then again, I'm about 2 blocks South of Columbia Heights (DC Latino Gangland). Remember that shootout a couple of months ago? I had just driven through that section on my way home from work. Maybe I need to move?

Have you been to the new REI in N.VA?”

“Hey, the new REI in fairfax is about 2 minutes from my house, I got a sweet down jacket there the other day for $50.”

“Its that far out? How does it compare to the one at 7 Corners?”

“okay, maybe it's slightly ghetto. LOL! i was speaking in relation to the DC area as a whole...it's not too bad. now, Columbia Heights on the other hand... ;-)

i haven't been to that REI yet! i hardly ever go to VA, since MD is so much better. LOL!”

“It's smaller but much nicer than 7 corners. It would be a ways farther out if you're coming from DC or Maryland. It's a little smaller than the size of the HTO that's also in Fairfax.”

An I have an airport nearby so I can easily reach any damn mountain I want with the money I save on state income taxes.”
