put em up...
I'm definetly in for the October gig. I will think on November...but, probably skip it due to weather and distance. I'm gonna hop on a 3 dayer over t-giving though.

I'll shoot for November. There's no way I'll be able to go for Halloween. It's a work tradition to get dressed up and act like idiots behind the bar. Besides, its gonna be busy ($$$$). Angie & I have wanted to do some cold weather camping. Our experience is limited.

currahee, just wait till your on top of Scales and the wind is blowing 60 mph. You are walking sideways trying to go in a straight line. Heck if we had had some string we could have had a Yam kite last yr ;)

It's a difference of 2 weeks. Will the weather turn so dramatically that one week is fine and the other is too cold to enjoy?

it only takes a few hours for the weather on Mt. Rogers to go from beautiful to horrid.

You'd think you were at 15,000 feet instead of 5,000 feet.

it is going to be cold and rainy/icy on both weekends. i also heard that every boyscout troop on the east coast was going there to earn there one month away from home camping merit badge. they are supposed to arrive on october 28.

Yes, I remember everything covered with ice, or snow and slush depending on the elevation. And I remember the outfitter shuttling service guy remarking that he was thinking of us with the temps at 0 to -25 at the elevations we were hiking. Even the ponies were hiding from the weather. Ah, spring in Virginia!

Really a good hike, too.
