Anyway, a couple of nuts are going to try and hike the entire Shenandoah section of the AT in one day.

Good luck you nuts!

It's definitely doable, but why would any sensible person want to???

Personal goal.
Any time I go out and death march, it's got nothing to do with "THE GREAT OUTDOORS". It's just to see if I can do it.

Yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with the outdoors, either. Why don't they just see how many times they can march around a track?

all they have to do is start and end at midnite, maintaining 4.125 miles per hour for 24 hours straight. what so hard about that?

I wish for an endless bank account and a hot chick who digs me.

...and I'm being careful about what I wish for.

Chip ain't a bad guy. He's just kinda strange.
Someone once said if you get in his face a tell him to "shut up or I'm going to bury him behind the shelter", he'll back off and move on.

A properly worn bannana hammock will take care of nuts on the trail.

Naw man, that 1.5 is hauling ass, LOL

12 ÷ 1.5 = an 8-hour day.

shewt, ill be putting in more than 8 hour days once it gets to be late spring/early summer. of course, as the miles get longer, the mph drops, but i dont think the occasional 20 mile day is out of the question come may

Dude, you'll be a lean, mean hiking machine come May. Plus you'll be in Virginny. Bet you get a 25-mile day at least once.

btw, and back on topic, nude hiking day should be called "show em your nuts day"

Hey SB, I see that you have changed your departure date to the 19th. When do you expect to be on Springer?

I didn't read the trail forums post... but I don't see anything wrong with doing a death march. But if 2poops stats are right, that is a bit much. Still, it's fun to push yourself, in the name of athleticsm. I like to do it every now and then (eg the Adirondack Buttkicker trips), which is not to say I don't appreciate normal treks where I have more time to take in the scenery, observe wildlife, and all that good stuff.

It's 99 miles, so SB is correct. 24 hours at 4.125MPH.

I hope they've got someone willing to pick them up at a road crossing.

4.125, that’s hauling a$$. I've done 3.5, but I could only maintain it for about an hour or so.

Well, they'll probably just have daypacks with water and food, and if they're marathon runners, they might just make it.

yeah, right
