I only ran into one group hiking naked in '05 and they weren't thru hikers. On the trail just south of Harpers Ferry, I ran into a group of half a dozen people walking in the buff. They were clearly proud of themselves to the point they would ridicule those with clothes. Middle aged men, big bellies almost hiding their dangling penile piercings. They threw a couple of taunts in my direction and I replied something like, "Hope you remembered your sunscreen...shouldn't take much".

I really don't care if people hike naked or not. Unfortunately it seems to be that all the wrong ones are doing it. Why would someone have to walk around naked to feel liberated?

I think I'll pass with nude hiking in my area. I end up with enough cuts and scrapes when I'm fully clothed. I wouldn't want to chance damaging some important equipment.

Today was a great day to hike nude here in PA. Clear crisp weather and the sun was shining all day..... there is of course the matter of the balmy 18 degree weather...

They're everywhere. I use sewer lines around here. They're generally groomed for easy access, and they stay low in the woods.

Cutover timberland works. The roads of under-construction subdivisions, too - many essentially abandoned in this economy.

I stumbled across a wooded mtn. bike trail system adjacent to a local fairgrounds.

I'm too poor to do much backpacking, so the mutts and me mostly do day-long walkabouts here in Griffin, GA - pop. 20,000.
