I was never threatened. I will say that I was made, shall I say, "uncomfortable" with the roster of information he had available in some sort of dossier. After years of posting remarks, I had to be amazed that he could reach back for "details" even if they were casual jokes (example: what I am paid to do this job! He was not correct but he reposted it with authority!)

I have been asked to stay out of this, but c'mon folks, it's MY name that is in the target here.

I do not disagree that prosecutor posted some good stuff. But you must understand that he could posture some pretty ridiculous stuff in such a way as to sound like it was all researched fact. Witness his seemingly endless fascination with pointing out how I had been self-serving to award desert dweller a hat for a story posted on MY Web site.*

It was true. I posted a story along with photos and a map. I did this as a favor to desert dweller first, and as a favor to those of you who enjoy dd's stories. I have tried for years to get Rodale to put the ability to include pictures (as we once could) back into the forums. Because there was no other way, I asked DD to send me his info.

I spent my own time to formatt pictures and construct the display page. I posted it with absolutely ZERO reference to any of my other personal pages. My name was not included in any comment. the only link on the page was to return to Trailhead Register.

I posted that, along with the mention that anyone else could ask me to do the same thing for them. Free! Nobody ever did.

Prosecutor could never get past the idea that certainly I was earning some fantastic sum of money for having done this. In his words, "even 5 cents!" was a clear violation of some sort.

Let me say that not only did I not make 5 cents, it took me an unpaid hour to post the page. Still, he never ever let go of that.

Prosecutor is not a major problem on the boards. That's why you are all so surprised. He does keep records. Note that somebody said, "I haven't heard from him in two years but he emailed me.." I have heard from a few people who have shared their sense of being stalked or blackmailed because of his style of background communication.

Last week he offered to send a packet to anyone who wanted to know the "real story". He said this in the reply he posted that said I was "arbitrary and capricious". I have to assume it was a packet of 'scandalous revelations' about bp2go,..but I also don't KNOW that, it is just a logical assumption.

I was not physically threatened. I was harrassed (mostly online but also in private email) and I do feel that he has done more record keeping of this forum and its members than anyone else. That becomes uncomfortable. And remember, I am not the one who removed him.

True. Unfortunately, Bp2go now contradicts the "official" Rodale position that Bp2go was "threatened". The reason is that he now contradicts the official position is that the official position is a patent lie.

False. I do know how to use a search function to bring up points in the past that contradict points being currently made. That must have made some people feel uncomfortable to be shown to be somewhat of a hypocrite. Oh by, the way, my computer automatically keeps track of who I send email too, and that is not a violation of the Rodale rules.

I beg to differ. I am not ANY problem on the boards. Not a single violation of the posted rules ever. Other posters have violated the rules and are allowed to post. This is proof that the "official" Rodale position is false and a pretext.

Bp2go is paranoid and is speculating. My emails are my private business and what is in my emails does not violate the Rodale rules. The actual facts are that the "package" was nothing more 3 items that Bp2go had read himself. I am sorry to disappoint anyone, but no scandalous revelations there. Did I get banned because of some paranoia based an unwarranted speculation? No. The excuse that I threatened anyone is false and a pretext.

False. Bp2go cannot provide a link or quote to anything I posted that harrassed him. As to emails, I haven't sent him an email for over a year since I sent him an email recommending KenV for a hat of the month (which he got). No threats there.


Additional points: If Rodale says I threatened Bp2go (which he now denies) and I threatened Rodale, why have they not filed a police report. The reason is that they have failed to file a police report is that I have not threatened anyone.

Credibility: Bp2go's boss, Kris Wagner posted a promise on line through Bp2go that Kris Wagner would post on-line the content of an email he sent to me to show he did not threaten to ban me unless I agreed with him on a point. You will all notice he never did come forward with that proof. Why, because he was not truthful, and the proof would have shown that. Rodale's credibility is lacking. Some people just make up the facts to suit their own temporary needs. Rodale has done that in the past and has done it again just today.

Since Bp2go denies being threatened, then that leaves Rodales' remaining reason is that I threatened Rodale. How do you threaten a corporation? I submit, that if I had threatened Rodale, they would post a link to the proof. They can't, because I haven't threatened anyone or any entity.”

It would seem Rodale, the magazine and forum better have damn good evidence of "threats"... or one would think you might be libeling Prosecutor. In fact, it does kinda sound like libel, by making the choice to put out information (while not giving really good evidence) that he made "threats." That's defaming one's character, isn't it?

We've had to really watch that at the newspaper where I work. Letters to the editor and everything had to go past the association attorney so as not to be libelous. I don't know if that note is from "Rodale Inc." or not, but it seems to be libelous. And that certainly makes me wonder if it's the Rodale voice speaking indeed.”

I don't know you, or your character in general, but I have only two things to go by. Several people here vouch for you, so that's good. But your "defense post" above sounds borderline obsessive and very angry, so that's bad. Everyone sounds bad once in a while, especially if they are a bit ticked off, so that's a point in your favor there. If your points are valid, then your anger is understandable. I cannot judge based on the info available.

There is talk of slander or libel by some here (not by you, however). But didn't you say that " Rodale's credibility is lacking. Some people just make up the facts to suit their own temporary needs. Rodale has done that in the past and has done it again just today." ? That could also be libelous if you can't prove Rodale has a pattern of fabricating "facts" to suit their needs. However, any good lawyer would inform us all that remarks that are merely defaming cannot bring a libel judgement. Actual harm to the victim's reputation must be shown. That doesn't seem likely here.

I am no fan of Rodale, and I do believe you when you say you got done over unfairly. I'm just hoping for more of an explanation of why you think they banned you. If the reason is insufficient in my opinion, I will join you in outrage against the injustice done to you.

I've stayed away from this stale, useless, wannabe website for 2 years because I knew it was lacking the cutting edge conversations on backpacking that I was looking for. Today, I was forced to waste my time and sign up to defend a brother of mine from the only true forum for backpacking on the internet (you know who we are). Now I know that some of you regulars here are decent folks, and the rest of you are anal retentive, getting tripped in the lunch-line, non-hiking, wedgie recipients, who have nothing better to do than gently stoke your latest peice of precious, unused gear, while fantasizing about something Captain Kirk did on Star Trek 20 years ago. I speak to the former. Come and join a cool site, where wit, charm, and real life backpacking experiences dominate. Eventhough you may be a philanthropist, there is no reason to hang here with the rest of these pathetic, thumb sucking, bed wetting loosers. We may not NEED you, like the maggots here, but you would compliment the best backpacking website on the planet. In conclusion, the men of thebackpacker.com are long on wares, last all night, and leave a smile on every ladies face. Our women are hot, smart, and know how to treat a man.

If you want to be a part of the backpacking genetic pool that Darwin said wouldn't last, stay here, have fun, and get ready to wipe the "lunch ladies" special off of your face.
