Oops, I stand corrected. The post is still there. I still think that bp2go is a sorry, pole-smoking, limp-wristed ass-bandit.

Walking a tightrope between corporate suits and the public can do that to a person.

What can you expect from a place where the most of them take this approach.

"Hotel Nights Count as Bag Nights? Posted: Mar 3, 2004 5:18 PM

So I an taking some training classes and will spend those nights in a hotel, where I am actually now.

Can I count Those as bag nights? Cuz, it is sort of a hardship....."

Somehow, I just have to feel this is the closest that a lot of that crowd will ever get to the #&%!$ing trail.

I, for one, care. A lot of prosecutor's complaints over on the other site were, I thought, petty but Rodale has crossed the line here, IMHO. They have publicly accused the man of making threats and cannot or will not back up their assertions. A suit for libel could be in order. I have hiked with prosecutor and found him to be a most likeable person.

Oh holy shlt man! Suing someone for things said on the net? I know our court system is just sitting around with their thumbs up there bums waiting for a case to come in but that's just idiotic. With all the hate and evil in the world someone not being able to post on a message board doesn't even rank as a minor concern.

Grade school shenanigans, yes. A major issue? Not even close.
Nigal

This is a bunch of bullsheet.

Prosecutor, what do you think the real reason you were banned is?
Phaedrus
9:48:31 AM
3/04/04

(A) I don't think prosecutor will sue.

(B) Of all the bull#&%!$ that happens on both sites, I just don't see prosecutor as being the worst offender in any instance.

(C) If we don't talk about this just WTF are we going to talk about? Flood conditions in the Po Valley?

Don't you think there were at least eight Rodale lawyers watching as that post was typed?
bearmagnet

No, only one watched. The other 7 filled out billable time sheets.

"No, only one watched. The other 7 filled out billable time sheets."

LOL! Sounds like physical therapists. They always get "referrals" from each other so they can double dip on billing.
Nigal

lol chili. I have no doubt that Rodale, as a Corp., does anything without the backing of the legal dept.
bearmagnet
9:56:44 AM
3/04/04

I don't think it's a major issue either. I just find it very curious that Rodale would deem it necessary to take this action. I also think that it's rather petty on their part, though I am not surprised.
Father Goose

Being banned from that site is hardly the end of the world. It's been coming steadily downhill, what with the idiot questions clogging up the board. The boards for the different parts of the country were interesting, but there seems lately to have been an influx of newbie "Where should I hike" threads (answer: anywhere you want to).

The site is going the way of the magazine. The stupid questions undoubtedly stem from the stupid polls in the magazine.

Buddha Bear pretty much hit the nail on the head, I thought.

I have not met the prosecutor, certainly don't always agree with him. But the banning, a valid reason not forthcoming, is just another indication the site is going the way of the magazine.

Bag nights: who the phuck cares? It's another form of peak bagging. Hike your own hike, whether you go out once a year or 52 times a year.
Geobeet

Yep. I've met him, FG.

He didn't flake out that particular weekend, but the current flap with Rodale appears to be a continuation of the hat-related jihad (LMAO).

If I may wax psychological for a moment, I think trial lawyers can easily become addicted to the adversarial nature of our system of justice.... and I don't think it improves their personalities.

I can't site any studies, but I've witnessed this phenomenon in a close relative who was also a prosecutor and his co-workers over a period of some 25 years. It reminds me of the fable of the aligator snapping turtle not releasing its grip unless lightning strikes.

Of course this is true of many people from all walks of life, but I've found it to be more prevalent in that population.

I don't know Bearmagnet, I doubt they even HAVE eight lawyers. It seems abundantly clear they can't even afford a writter, much less eight lawyers.

They probably have ONE lawyer named Larry Fielman that has a closet office down town and a PO Box. Cheap bassturds.

I have to stand up for SherpaSandy
The post.... "Hotel Nights Count as Bag Nights?"... was an obvious tongue in cheek comment. If anything she was poking fun at the whoile bag night concept. She has plenty of real experience with backpacking, more then most of the folks I see who post on both sides.

Sometimes satire can go over our heads....we need to remember to duck now and again.

An Internet forum where Prosecuter is banned and bacpac is not. I think that pretty much sums up the validity of backpacker.com.

Whether you agreed with him or not Prosecuter was always one of the best posters (in terms of content and well thought out coherent ideas) on the board. Yet, they allow other belligerent spammers to remain.
