Gordonsville, TN
Well, I may be starting a 3-6 month contract engineering job on Monday in Gordonsville, TN.

YAY.

Anyway.. since it is too far to drive everyday.. I might have to find me a good state park around close, and just camp out for 3-6 months. (I need one with showers)

lol.. take that, Rodale! I bet no one on the 'other side' would even THINK of hiking/backpacking/camping enough to live out what they love, and work too!?!

Looks like Edgar Evins is your best bet.

It doesn't look like it's more than 15 miles or so from Gordonsville.

Bitpusher: okie dokie.. does it have showers? Some guy called me yesterday trying to take a job down in your neck of the woods.

Bitpusher: "The park has 60 campsites for year round tent and trailer camping. These platform-type sites are built around the slopes of Center Hill Lake and are equipped with a table, grill, water, fire rings and electrical hookups. Three modern bathhouses are located within the campground. "

Yay. Edgar Evins here I come.

That's a great idea, TownDawg. Unfortunately the max limit on your stay at Edgar Evins (and most TN state parks) is two weeks. But then again, you could always alternate between EE and Cedars of Lebanon SP. It's a bit further out, but then again you're camping!

Just think of how this would help your bag night count.

I bet if you talk to the park rangers at Edgar Evins and explain the situation, they'd be willing to stretch the rules a bit.

HikingTiger: Ya.. I figured I could go to BSF too. It's good money, so I will most likely take it.. but ya.. its like 150 miles from the house. I really don't see myself driving back and forth everyday. The kewl part is??.. It's 3rd shift!.. lol.. I can dayhike!!

Anyway, gotta run.. have a telephone interview in about 10 mins.

There is also a Corp of Engineers campground directly below Center Hill Dam. It is the Long Branch Campground and it is on the Caney Fork Tailwater. The trout fishing is some of the best in this area! Check out this link and the pic of the dam and you can see part of the campground in the lower right corner of the pic. Call me and we'll go fishin'
