Red Creek is now high & swift, as are other streams in the area. Unseasonably high temperatures have caused rapid snow melt. Forest Rd 19 is still blocked by snow drifts. We were able to drive up 0.9mi past the Boars Nest Trailhead yesterday. At 0.9mi we hit solid ice covered road where it is shaded by hemlock trees. Forest Rd 70 is still snow covered - about 3 feet near the gate, probably deeper farther in. The large drifts are still on 19 near the junction with FS75.

Guess I'll bump this back to the top for the benefit of all those people who gripe that there are no backpacking-related threads on the board, and anyway, it's too much trouble to scroll down to find them.

Geobeet, you're a real gem!

Last year in mid-January the boys and I walked up from Boar's Nest trailhead.

Without snowshoes and butt-deep snow we didn't get far on FR 70.

Man, it was breezy up there!
