what map do i need? i may already have it. i'll have to look.”

“The Potomac Appalachian Trail Conference, or someone, puts out a map that covers the Trout Run Valley area called Map F.
I have one of these......somewhere.

Otherwise it takes at least two USGS maps to cover the area.

One of the USGS maps is Wardensville Quad.

I can do this hike without a map.”

I will have to do that loop one fine weekend. I've camped at Wolf Gap for fossil expeditions many times and not gotten on the trail much except for Big Schloss.”

“Geo, have you been to Tibbet Knob?

That is 1.5 miles south of Wolf Gap.

The knob is about 3,000 feet and gives a great look at the valley from the south end.”
