I'm back. Too tired to write a full report now, but will do so Monday. We had a total of 14 or 15 or so.

Trip Highlights:
1. The rain wasn't a big deal.
2. Walkabout likes Houndog's whiskey.
3. Quillen is awesome. I promised a dozen waterfalls. I think we saw that many in the first hour from camp on Thur.
4. Friday we did a whole loop with Quillen. Tons of nice cascades (100' long is one case)
5. Trekkngirl likes vodka.
6. BAMA brought bear gumbo. After hiking 10+ miles on Saturday we were all hungry enough to eat a bear....and we did!

That's it for now. This was one of those with information overload and too much to tell. I took 105 pictures and am going through them now. So far, I got some nice water effects.

Thanks to everyone who came and stuck it out. The whole trip was a blast. We'll do it again next year.

bacpac - sorry about whatever came up that made you need to leave. Everyone back at camp was disappointed you had to leave. We all wanted to meet you. Rabbitman kept his word. The photo won't be posted and it won't be emailed to any of us. I asked him to email it so that I could compare it to the previous one posted. He said no, that he'd given you his word.

Glad yall had a good time and the rain wasn't bad enough to mess up the trip. Wish I could have made it.
Susan has a slight fracture in her lower back. She can still walk but it hurts for her to walk much. She can go to work but can only do light jobs.

Pooalah Bieah Hoontink!
I had a great time. Pretty much right when I showed up I was met with peach cobbler from an iron dutch oven shared with a bunch of cool people, and then it was WATER.

I've been to the Sipsey several times before but I've never been there in the context of a Dayhiker trip. It was really above and beyond the call of duty.

Top that off, I had bear meat for the first time in my life, and it was in some gumbo soup that BAMA prepared. That guy is great.

Thanks for the good times, folks! Hope to do it again someday.

Great Trip
Sipsey Trip
"I went in Thursday night and followed the markers I would not advise it for a novice. but took my time and went down the rope on the way in. I got in about 8:30 PM. Friday we went up the stream we were on and saw lots of water fall and some neat camping spots. I would start to rain so we would put on our rain gear and in a few minutes it would quit. It was well worth the trip. Saterday we hiked about 10.5 - 11 miles. After hiking in California the last 6 yrs. this was a breath of fresh ail. Day Hiker thanks I loved every minute of it. The Rain hit Friday after we went to bed and did not seem to bother any one in our party. I was so happy to meet all of you and hope to do it again. Divinity I found your blue foam pad in my truck I can drop it off at work for you."
I will take my pictures in tomorrow and will try to post them as soon as I can.

Made it back in 8 and half hours vs 10 hours for the drive down thanks to some shortcut advice from Divinity and some speeding. I had a blast, glad I got to meet anyone. I missed meeting BAMA and bacpac. My cold is getting a little worse, I've been losing my voice all day. I have class early tomorrow and I'm really tired so I'll probably go to bed rather than try to catch up on all the threads I've missed.

Glad to see everbody getting back safe and sound. Just a few more to check in. I really enjoyed meeting everone. Dayhiker did a great job of putting this trip together. It's great to put personalities with trailnames. I hate it I missed SuperTroll and Dub. I have just missed SuperTroll several times. One of these days we'll I'll run into them. As usuall ALA was thrilled to meet folks from differant areas. I wish I could have gotten there before Sat. I'll let the others post all trip report as I was only there a short time.
P.S. If ALA gets a bear this year we'll do another bear gumbo, or a moose, or a elk, or a deer, or some other critters. If its one thing us southern folks can do is
find a way to cook critters.

Bama that Bear Gumbo was great and after the hike we had it hit the spot, and with Dayhikers veggies and top that off with Apple Cobbler made for a wonderfull meal. I have packed for a lot of years and I will have to say that is the best meal I have had on the trail. Thanks Bama and Dayhiker. Bama I look forward to getting togeather sometine soon. Glad to hear everyone make it home save.

To say a "good time was had by all"would be an understatement.Continue to be impress the with hikers you meet on TT.Some observations .I liked Hounddog's whiskey,it was the demons in the whiskey that didnt like me and yes you can find your tent in the darkness of night while walking on your knees. The next time my reply when offered that 'demon drink' will be "get behind me Satan" ,no wait, what is that I hear ,My friend Willie Nelson singing "Whiskey River" .Got to go with Willie. All joking aside,I had one hell of a GREAT time with a group of fine people.Looking forward to the next trip.

I'm going to write the report in small segments through the day and post the whole thing later. I'll take the 20 best pics and put them on my webshots account.

Condolensces to SuperTroll. A close friend of his from his military days passed away on Friday or so. He left for the funeral at Arlington. That's why he's not in the post hike photo that I'll post.

This may be the most fun I've had on a trip yet. The only bad thing I have to say about the trip is that I came home with a sinus infection. By Sunday night I can continous chills. The trip was big enough that you got to meet folks, but small enough that you got to talk to each individual enough to feel like you now know them better. Great folks and great times.

checking in - arrived home at 1:30 AM after a long backup on I81 in TN

I had a good time but unfortunately I did not get to cut as many blowdowns as I wanted to due to rain and where I camped for the first part of the week - I went straight to the group bushwhack campsite

The bear gumbo was great and it was great to be with old and new friends (even if they did talk a lot of football)

Dayhiker, I can't wait to see the pics. I'm gonna try to drop my film off today. A sinus infection seems to be ailing me as well. I can talk a little better today. I need to go an upack my gear and let it dry. I look forward to the trip report and I'll post my version to this thread later this week when I have pictures.

Many thanks to Houndog who loaned me his mini-tripod. None of the water exposure pics would have been possible without it.
