Wandering around Whale PeakView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 7 of 7 messages posted.
“Heading to Whale Peak, I pondered the realities of a solo trip across trail less terrain. The risks, challenges and wonders I would come across. For me normally the journey is more prolific than the destination. One of the surprises for me was the Peak itself. It had a rustic feel to it. A peak that had seen a lot of things. And had a lot of visitors. With a sort of peaceful welcome feeling. Surprisingly so, since it was not the easiest peak to get to or hike up. The trip report is with the pictures: http://community.webshots.com/user/wld257” 5:20:12 PM 3/07/04 Thanks! “Nice report, and excellent photography. Ironically I was just today looking at the feasability of a trip to Anza Borrego Desert. Long trip from Northern CA, but there is a lot I'd love to see there. At least for now I can visit via your pics!” 10:55:57 PM 3/07/04 “That area is like an old woooden chest you happen to come upon. It does not look like much when you first see it. But when you open the lid and look closer, it is full of treasures.” 9:23:37 AM 3/08/04 “Fantastic pics! You're hiking this weekend, right? I'm looking forward to meeting you.” 1:51:27 PM 3/08/04 “Great pictures and a very informative narration WLD!” 2:33:29 PM 3/08/04 “Yes I will be there, I am meeting you and TrailTrekker in Idywild.” 3:03:13 PM 3/08/04 “And the rest of us...Phil, Wingding, Mtflyer...umm- who else??” 12:44:33 AM 3/09/04
