I agree....the thing is the government will continue to tax and spend (it really seems like there is not a whole CRAP load of difference between the R and D's) to keep bribing the Masses. Like parents trying to buy their children's love by showering them with presents.

What we need to understand is REGARDLESS of who is in power someone will be pissed off. The object should be to have it where the government cannot screw with our lives anymore than necessary. My biggest fear is that we are losing the intent of the original Constitution. As people ask for more and more "things" from the government they do not realize that each "gift" comes with a recepit that will never be marked "PAID in FULL"

WHAHAHAHAA...sorry but I know two of the Agents who were on that detail...and truly there was NOTHING he could do.

i mean when a rabid rabbit comes at you, you can't negotiate..you have to kill it.

My Favorite about JIMUH was when he was in Mexico and he made the comment that he started jogging years ago when he went to Mexico and drank the water....(WHAT a morooon)

Pulled up this thread to do an angry rant on Carter and Hamas and saw the link to the Carter rant in the Onion. I feel much better already.

Still, I started off ambivalent about Carter's Hamas trips. It looked like a dumb move to me, but I thought - well maybe he wants to shake things up because our current approach to Hamas is so stupid. When Hamas won democratic elections, we and much of the world gave three conditions to recognizing Hamas or even talk to them: renounce terrorism and all violence, accept previously signed agreements and renounce and recognize Israel.

Now, "renounce terrorism" - thats a reasonable demand. I'd settle for a moratorium to talk to them, but "renounce terrorism" might be enough to show anyone who is misguided enough to sympathize with them that their attachment to terror is what is isolating them. Renounce violence and recognize Israel - that's nuts. What sane country in the Middle East or anytwhere else would completely renounce violence. Recognize Israel - is basically asking them to capitulate in order to talk.

But Carter's pronouncements seem just as fricking stupid. Hamas willing to have a ten year truce with no recognition? And he calls that defacto recognition. Has he read the freakin' Hamas covenant? Does anybody doubt how that ten year truce (if it lasted 10 years) would end? Does anybody doubt what kind of arming and fortifiying Hamas would do in Gaza with a 10 year truce.

Anybody who wonders what Hamas is about should read their covenant:

If Jimmy was there on the UStaxdollar, wasn't authorized to stop all aid to both Israel and Hamas and wasn't authorized to pull all US employees out, he should never have been there.

Carter is an a-hole. He's like the whore standing outside the whole house giving it away for free. HAMAS will never stop trying to push Israelis into the sea. Sure they, like the Palestinians, may say they recognize Israel but there will always be the terrorists who will never stop. And HAMAS, like the PLO will never do anything about them.

I respect Carter's work with Habitat and respect him speaking up for what he believes in, but I think this Hamas thing is a major mistake. Whatever else he is trying to accomplish will be discredited due to his abyssmal judgement here.

I was willing to give him some benefit of the doubt and listen with an open mind. From now on, if he says something I disagree with - instead of spending time trying to get his point of view, I'll just think "there goes Jimmy again." His credibility for me is flushed - there are enough people out there worth my time.

Bacpac, I think the guy we have now clearly has him beat on the worst list, as do about 1/2 a dozen other presidents.

Jimmy Carter now has done to his ex-presidency what he did to his presidency, which is to say that he has, through his incessant moral preening, converted mere incompetence into something more unseemly. Mr. Carter thunders that those who oppose President Obama’s plans to nationalize the health-care industry, and those who oppose other elements of the president’s agenda, are doing so for reasons of racism.

The facile accusations of racism are both banal and cynical. And they are right on cue: Wolf-cries of “racism!” are a way to smother debate, which is something that Democrats, who are losing the health-care debate, must find appealing right about now.

Privately, other Obama aides are more blunt. "There is no percentage for us to get involved in this debate," said one. "Not on politics, not on policy, not even on the issue of race. The president doesn't agree with Carter and that's it."

First Carter makes a fool of himself about racism, embarrassing the Obama administration. Now Carter's national security advisor (Brzezinski) has gone off the deep end by suggesting that we shoot down Israeli warplanes should they try to bomb Iran. Apparently Zbigniew is unaware that Israel would HAVE to have US support in order to BEGIN to carry out such a mission.

LMAO - what a prized asset Carter & Co is becoming for Obama!

My guess is that growing up in Georgia, 2nd only to Mississippi in lynchings, pretty much makes Carter an expert on racism.

Have you ever heard of the Civil Rights movement? Violin's argument is as silly as saying someone who grew up in the Antebellum South is by virtue of that sole fact an expert in race relations 60 years after Emancipation. It's a completely unsupported just-so assertion that even lacks face validity on the most cursory examination. It's almost insultingly stupid.

But of course I'm sure it's effective emotional blackmail on the "enlightened" who must acknowledge the emotional sentiment of it lest they be labeled "racist".

he did do somegood things. everyone be sure to raise a pint to jimmy on wednesday.

On October 14, 1978, President Carter signed House Resolution 1337. Senate Amendment 3534 to that resolution called for equal treatment of home beer brewers and home winemakers. This law allowed for brewing up to 100 gallons per adult or up to 200 gallons per household per year. The amendment was proposed by Senator Cranston of California, Senator Schmitt of New Mexico, Senator Bumpers of Arkansas and Senator Gravel of Alaska.
