People do own land. Those who own the property in question retain rights of use. If you no longer own the property then you no longer retain any rights of use unless rights are granted to you by the present owner.

Leaving anything on public property is littering or dumping.

maybe they owned the property?

"maybe they owned the property?"

Once again, it's a public nature preserve that is highly traveled and highly protected.
Nigal

It's littering but I have less of a problem with this scenario than say a discarded soda bottle.

scorch, remeber we were in RI, when we were in the woods and we kept seeing all the stones in a line? like a wall. we asked and the locals and they said it was the Native Americans that did it, it was something for there religion.

they didnt seem bothered by it. spooked us!
mapleleaf

In that case I'd leave it too.

Burying animals in public places and in your own backyard is illegal. Public health ya know. It's required that they be disposed of properly. I assume that means ya gotta spend some $$.

I won't tell about your hamster if you don't tell about my cat.

remeber the Odd Couple, were Oscar's daughters pet died and they wanted to bury it in Central Park?

I agree, HPM.

My take is that it is littering. The Wiccans I know rarely leave anything behind. Some don't want stuff to be mistook as "devil worshipers" and thus, create further biased against the Wiccan style. I don't now too much about all of the things with Wiccan, but it is truley a fasinating thing.

About the Native American thing. Seeing though, to the best of my knowledge, they ae not along the lines of "Pagan" type worshipers, I would be real suprised if you would find a lot of "religious" items in the outdoors, save a fire ring, or the likes. They do have the right to practice on Public land, as far as I know. Relisticaly, it's one of the least things we can do for them, seeing as we DO owe everything to THEM!

And if you ARE going to have your own personal pet cemetery please remember where they are buried EXACTLY. Nothing worse than grieving for Fluffy while digging their grave and discovering Patches chopped in half by your shovel. Personal experience speaking here!

MarkO - Nope, two students of mine are Wiccan, or so they claim. Like I said, I really don't know that much about it; however, I'm just drawing from our conversations about the subject.
Please excuse the lack of knowledge on the subject (or there's for that matter)....

So mapleleaf, what did you do to "the hamster"?

laqtis, all I know is that those Wiccans like to dance naked in the forest.
And THAT'S OK with me!
MarkO
10:40:36 AM
3/09/04

you mean the one in the tree?
mapleleaf

MarkO

Tip #2: Never feed your hamster chocolate chips.

Tip #3: Don't put a nail polish strip down one's back in order to tell them apart. They end up with a nice bald stripe.
