At least my friends across the road might see me lying in the front yard and call 911 for me, LOL.

This situation is where knowledge of technical treeclimbing comes in particularly handy.

all joking aside, call a tree person and pay them to do it. tree and myself had a friend that tried to take care of that very same problem and did not live.
he left behind a wife and two teenage girls

pay to have it done stovie!!

Prolly not a good idea to be using a chain saw up on an extension ladder anyway.

Nope, Mapes.
I can do it standing on my roof. I don't need to climb the tree. The tree is only a foot from my roof edge, but I'm not getting anywhere close to the edge.

I do have to get it off my roof before it rubs my shingles off.

I have to use the extension ladder to get up onto my roof.

My house has at least a 35' drop from the upper roof. I've never been up there and I don't ever plan on being up there. I'll clean the gutters on the roof part over the porches but anything higher than that and my buddy Larry gets the call.

that doesn't look that bad. Climb up the ladder, walk on the roof to the branch then cut away

Turns out it was two branches.
Didn't have any problems, other than the heat, cutting them up.

Roof is clear now.

... There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.

Pitts, it's never that easy. Insurance companies don't like to give out money.

It wasn't any real problem getting the tree limbs down.

I just don't like going up that shakey extension ladder to my 2 story roof. LOL

I hate extension ladders too. The only thing worse is a six foot ladder that's a foot and a half too short! Birch runs up and down them all like a monkey. Shows how crazy he truly is, or maybe how much laddertime he has. =)

Stop Yo Bithcin
It's just so typical that in our current times that New Orleans isn't even dry yet and the fingers are already beginning to get pointed. People need to stop arguing about it, pointing fingers, and feeling sorry for people(or themselves)and start doing something about it. Whether it's as major as actually going down there to help or just donating money or blood, these things help a lot more than #&%!$ing about it on some stupid internet forum.

I'm Harry Peters and I'm running for congress. ;)

HA HA...i can't wait...we get 6 inches of snow and my mom runs around in circles yelling "what do we do, what do we do"...and then she takes pictures and puts them in a book labeled "blizzard of 2004"...6 inches of snow = a blizzard

TH has it exactly right. It's time to stop bi*chin and start bi*chin about people b*tchin. Or maybe it's time to start bi*chin about people bi*chin about people b*tchin.

Seriously, I understand the point is that now is the time to do whatever we can to help. There will be plenty of time to study what could have been done, what should have been done, and what went wrong.

That is more important than my point: which is that griping just adds more to the tone of complaining and griping, no matter what your gripe is about.

LOL.

I was merely trying to educate in a benevolent, caring and compassionate manner. My sincerest apologies if I undermined my own mission by using "bi*chin", "griping" and "complaining" interchangably.

(Only a realist cynic would doubt my most benevolent intentions by suggesting that mostly I just thought it was funny and ironic to see someone bi*chin about bi*chin, but -in light of the ongoing emergency and tragedy - felt the need to be more constructive.)

See it not as #&%!$1n about #&%!$1n but more as a call to stop all #&%!$1n. A plea, if you will, to my fellow man to use your voices not to drag your country man down but to use it to build them up so that they can recover and be better Americans.

No shlt Timeclime! I'm so sick of "it's his fault! It's their fault! It's your fault!". If we're gonna run our mouths why not make all the jawing prayers for those in need and give our words real value? Let's get our asses to redcross.org and give til it hurts, if we can get down there to help all the better. Otherwise carry on with our lives for Pete's sake.
