“The New Pentagon Papers A high-ranking military officer reveals how Defense Department extremists suppressed information and twisted the truth to drive the country to war. - - - - - - - - - - - - By Karen Kwiatkowski March 10, 2004 | In the spring of 2002, I was a cynical but willing staff officer, almost two years into my three-year tour at the office of the secretary of defense, undersecretary for policy, sub-Saharan Africa. In April, a call for volunteers went out for the Near East South Asia directorate (NESA). None materialized. By May, the call transmogrified into a posthaste demand for any staff officer, and I was "volunteered" to enter what would be a well-appointed den of iniquity. (the rest)” 4:12:51 PM 3/10/04 “How soon until she turns up dead, hm?” 4:14:14 PM 3/10/04 “Frightening times.” 4:16:12 PM 3/10/04 “salon? Get real. About on the same level as drudge, just left leaning rather than right.” 4:19:42 PM 3/10/04 “This story was sketched out on NPR a couple of weeks ago, quoting liberally from this officer. The crux of it was theorized several months back, to wit, administration wonks had usurpped the intelligence agencies and were manipulating data. All the neocons on this board acted like I was a communist when I mentioned it. Bush the Omnipotent!” 4:20:47 PM 3/10/04 What a joke “The article by Salon starts out... "High-Ranking Military Officer reveals...", yet when you read the article the VERY FIRST sentance by the autor is "cynical but willing staff officer" Since when is a staff officer a "High-Ranking Military Officer"? I suggest we ban all future threads from extreme right or left wing puplications... people actually read this %$#% and think it's factual & based in reality. It's pure "agenda" stuff.” 4:28:46 PM 3/10/04 “The scumbags are on the way out.” 5:09:07 PM 3/10/04 “Sure, Salon's left-leaning, just as the Wall Street Journal is right-leaning. Both do investigative journalism that is worth reading, though. That aside, The article was written by a retired lieutentant colonel who served in the pentagon during the buildup to war. I personally don't see a big differece whether she was a staff or line officer in this case. Here's another link to her work. After eight years of Bill Clinton, many military officers breathed a sigh of relief when George W. Bush was named president. I was in that plurality. At one time, I would have believed the administration's accusations of anti-Americanism against anyone who questioned the integrity and good faith of President Bush, Vice President Cheney or Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld... ” 5:42:31 PM 3/10/04 “After reading that, I'm thinking she wasn't too bright, LOL” 8:07:59 PM 3/10/04 “....waiting for the "jihad Bush" nonsense. Poor W.” 9:02:26 PM 3/10/04
