Tisk, tisk
Masquerading as supporting the US auto industry. More lies from MCSame.

McCain ridiculed over 13 car fleet
Published: Sunday September 21, 2008

Barack Obama's backers Sunday branded Republican John McCain as out of touch and guilty of betraying US workers after it was reported his family owns 13 cars, including several foreign models.

The Republican presidential hopeful and his family have already faced ridicule and criticism from Democrats over a property portfolio which includes seven homes.

The United Auto Workers union (UAW) accused the Arizona senator in a conference call organized by Democrats of not telling the truth about always buying American cars, as the family fleet reportedly includes a Honda and a Volkswagen.

"When he's in the midwest, he tells voters he supports the industry," UAW president Ron Gettelfinger said, referring to economically bereft battleground states.

"That's a really a nice campaign line, but it turns out that John McCain wasn't being straight with the people of Detroit," Gettelfinger said.

"We need a president who's committed to rebuilding the auto industry in America, not a president who buys foreign cars," said Gettelfinger.

In the past, McCain has said he was proud to buy American cars, including in an interview on a Detroit television station.

The latest flap erupted after Newsweek reported that McCain and his wife Cindy, an heiress to a lucrative beer distribution company, had 13 vehicles.

Cindy McCain drives a Lexus with the private number plate "Ms Bud" which is registered to the beer distributorship, the magazine reported.

Newsweek said that Obama and his wife Michelle own a single car, a Ford Escape Hybrid, which was dubbed by Gettelfinger as a "green machine" emblematic of a future generation of US vehicles.

There was no immediate response to the UAW attack from the McCain campaign.

Hahahaha. Even the Christian right thinks he's a farce.

Richard Cizik is one of the country’s most powerful and outspoken Christian evangelical leaders. He happens to be a Republican, and he has known the GOP’s presidential nominee for many years. “I thought John McCain was a principled person,” Cizik says. “But John McCain has backed off, not just on climate change but on torture and a sensible tax policy — in other words, he’s not the John McCain of 2000. … He seems to be waffling on issue after issue.

It’s not illogical for someone to conclude that John McCain is going to be more like George Bush than John McCain is going to be like John McCain in 2000.”

Characterizing the GOP’s presidential nominee as an unprincipled waffler is strong stuff from the man who oversees governmental affairs and is the chief lobbyist of the 30-million-member Washington, D.C.-based National Association of Evangelicals. But Cizik — named this year by TIME magazine one of the world’s 100 most influential people — is no stranger to controversies that come from strong convictions.

Yo, Nigal. That Congress that you speak of is nearly 50% Republican. Not to mention, the current Congress has to work with a veto hanging over their head. You know this is true.

Nuclear Weapons
tilt, what do you think we should do about countries who want to assemble nuclear weapons?

I'm sure we will have the U.N. and other countries there with us if we choose to go to war.

What I find to be hysterical and quite naive as Obama is said to be, he thinks talks could have helped us not to go to war with Iraq. Talks, with Saddam? It shows how naive he really is. Yeah, I'm for talks, but we all know there was no talking to Saddam.

Errr, not exactly sure what you're talking about there Lipstick. Do you mean Iran?

We made up reasons to go to war with Iraq? WMDs, tried to link them to 9/11? That sort of thing.

How would talks have helped us avoid going to war with Iraq when we were the ones who decided to invade? Pre-emptive war, Bush
Doctrine?

Small problem with that term always being used ....   It would only be pre-emptive war if it was actually pre-empting anything.

It was "sold" as pre-emptive war, but that turned out to be a lie.

Obama - Foreign Affairs Foreign to Him
Y2, I don't know why he brings up Iran when North Korea was talking about producing nuclear arms and seems to be the most prominent threat. Obama is not versed in foreign affairs anyway.

Many people support Obama because he says he will start removing troops immediately if elected, BUT, then says later on he has to see what's happening on the ground first. Duh, no kidding. That's what is being done already. Bush wants to remove 8,000 troops next year.

rosie, someone sent that to me. It's hysterical, but really, it's true. You feed people instead of letting them help themselves, it becomes a pattern. Some people really do need help sometimes, but I think welfare is well padded with people who shouldn't receive it as well as food stamps.

Well, now that the bailout for corporate america deal was reached, will John still puss out on the debate tomorrow so he can have another week to brush up (his campaign is on the record as saying he's such a statesman, there's no need for him to prepare)?

He's looking really WEAK and SCARED right now.

Let's go, John! Show the country what you have to offer (besides excuses)!

Man, their campaign is rapidly turning into a bigger farce each day. Without Mccain around to hold Palin's leash, she's coming across as the inept and lying politician she really is. She's breaking down under pressure and McCain is coming across as utterly worthless.

It's really fun to watch.

McCain admits he doesn't know crap about how the economy runs; he's not on any committee that has any jurisdiction so he's not involved in the negotiations in any way, shape or form....   But he's going to 'suspend his campaign' and ride back to Washington like he's the freakin' cavalry.

You know I don't blame him for looking frazzled. It would be impossible for any Republican to look good against the backdrop of current events and conservative ideology falling apart before the world's eyes.

Washington Mutual, the giant lender that came to symbolize the excesses of the mortgage boom, was seized by federal regulators on Thursday night in the largest bank failure in American history.

Mr. McCain hasn't faced a serious challenge since joining the U.S. Senate in 1987. But seven months ahead of the primary, he is using tough-guy tactics and calling in conservative chits to fend off J.D. Hayworth, an ex-congressman and radio host. Mr. Hayworth, who lost his House seat in 2006 and who is best known in Arizona for his opposition to illegal immigration, has seized the Tea Party mantel of low taxes and small government.

Yes he was honorable in his service but sadly the after years have been somewhat lacking. I think he has, as all long term members inside the beltway, lost touch with reality.
