Copa Malibu Love Trail (A Novel)

“The apprehensive bellboy knocks on the booming door, afraid of what the resonating noise within will bring once unleashed. He begins to knock again, and the door opens with a start, revealing a lean figure, decked out in a gray suit, skinny tie, with a half-cocked cigarette protruding from his relaxed lips, and two stunning, well endowed, scantily clad blondes on his right and left.

“What can I do for ya chief?” asked the one they call Frank.

“Room service sir, with your case of Hess Cabernet, as requested.”

Frank smiles under the strain of the blondes, tosses the kid a fin, and wheels the cart of red love into the heart of the party.

“Dino, get a load of this loot!”

“The girls, or the wine?” joked Dean.

“The girls and the wine.” Interrupted a surly Joey.

A small, grinning black man uncorks one of the bottles and pours the nectar of the gods for his fellow womanizers.

He toasts, “To the Copa Malibu Trail!”

As glasses clink, the original Kennedy lover makes an observation, “And another… To the Pack!”

Again glasses clink under the strain of alcohol, large breasted tanned and toned women, fake eyes, and gambling bliss. Thus begins the story of the most unlikely pioneers of a hiking trail, the founders of the first public trail in Nevada, the Copa Malibu Trail. It was Spring, 1966 at the Sands Casino and Hotel Resort, and the first speculated time that Henry David Thoreau turned in his grave.”
