“Yeah the "hate mail" is pretty strong and I truly hope that it wasn't from this board, but that remains to be seen. If it is true somepeople really went overboard.

I know that the new member bashing happens, I don't take part in it and I don't agree with it.
Backpacking is a sport that I love and I think it is great to have new people discover it. When I wanted to get back into backpacking I came to this board for information and for people to go backpacking with. If I had not hooked up with some great people from here I would not be backpacking as much as I do. In fact I probably would still be car camping and dayhiking.
I am glad that I did not have to go through the abuse that new posters get now.”
