I can't even go to the beach down here because of suspected sewer leaks and potentially high concentrations of fecal matter in coastal waters!!!!!!

not fair. When I live in PA I will live 9 hours from Mt. Mitchell. I will live 7 hours from Mt. Washington though.

3 hours from Shenandoah. 2 hours from the Loyalsock trail. 2 hours from Ricketts Glen and Worlds End. 4 hours from the Catskills and 5 hours from the Adks.

Bison

EarthNsky

Where will you be in PA that puts you 3 hours from Shenandoah? That's what it takes me to get there and I'm in PA - Mt Washington NH though is about 9 1/2 hours from my place...

The south district's a little far for me tommorow, I wanna be back by one. How about the Dark Hollow long circuit, 6.4 miles, starts from Big Meadows? Passes Dark Hollow falls and Rose River falls which should both be roaring with all the rain.

yo ENS - I emailed around 1:30 - I take it it did not get there?

Anyways I am thinking of doing some trail maintenance tomorrow and so I won't be there with ya'll. I suspect the Bald Mtn. Tr. will have a few nedw blowdowns to take care of and I know that at least half of the trail still needs to be brushed up.

I'm not TOO far from where you'll be - southern end of Lancaster County - a little over an hour away. I've been trying to get together with folks interested in Shenandoah - bearmagnet and a couple others from here on TT and some from BP.com. Maybe we can get a weekend trip put together sometime for this fall or maybe in the spring...?
Squilax

definitely. Bison is in VA just west of DC and he goes to Shenandoah all the time. He and Hog On Ice know a ton about Shenandoah. I'm sure we can set something up for the fall. Phantom Soul also said he wants to get a fall trip in at Shenandoah this year. So it looks like there is a good amount of interest to do it.
EarthNsky

I'd like to do Shenandoah sometime too.

I'll keep an eye out when you guys start planning something.

BearMagnet is also near DC - I've been trying to get him to come to Shenandoah for awhile now, but I heard he's now working weekends...

I can't do Friday night, I could do Saturday to Sunday overnighter.

Either way and only if it's a dayhike we gotta get the rest of our no-hiking area TTer's out for it.

BTW - the guidebook describes this hike as Strenous - For Experienced Hikers Only.
