Even lighter & cheaper 1 oz backpacking pillow

“I was pokeing around Wal-Mart at lunch today and found the kid's pool toys are already out. It's
Spring here on the Gulf Coast.
They had new sets of kid's water wings for 88 cents.

I made two new inflatable 1.0 oz. backpacking pillows from them.
44 cents each! The 'old' ones I made cost 50 cents. Man, I'm saveing money. ;-)

I learned you need to make sure the two halves are equal in pressure with air. One side bigger than the other does not work, ha ha.
With both sides inflated the same, the pillow cradles the head nicely and I didn't roll off of it like a flat pillow during the night.”

“I cut the bottom of a leg off a pair of fleece sweats to make a nice little cover mine. I hate sleeping on plastic. I find mine is still not quite high enough to keep my big mellon up but even with something under the pillow it doesn't slide around much.

This is the best idea I've picked up sense the ultralight dutch oven.”

“I don't sleep on the bare plastic either. I wrap it with whatever clothing I have extra.
You can also put it inside a stuff sack with ALL your extra clothing for a super comfy pillow.

I find my 3/4 thermorest is plenty long if I use this pillow off the top of the thermorest (not resting on it). My knees will then rest on the pad with just my feet hanging over.”

“I use the floaties idea on all my trips. They work especially well when contained in the hood of a sleeping bag. I have a little more trouble when I use the down quilt.”

“Yes, I do, Pekka!! My kids love my sunshine. Sometimes Wyatt gets confused and calls "him" sunrise. LOL I had mentioned to the kids that they can't play with him because I am expected to bring him on trips with me. Sunday I took the kids to Copper Harbor and hiked around some waterfalls. Wyatt suddenly exclaimed, "We forgot to bring sunrise!" :)”
