1.0 ounces baby!!! “I was pokeing around Wal-Mart at lunch today and found the kid's pool toys are already out. It's Spring here on the Gulf Coast. They had new sets of kid's water wings for 88 cents. I made two new inflatable 1.0 oz. backpacking pillows from them. 44 cents each! The 'old' ones I made cost 50 cents. Man, I'm saveing money. ;-) Comfy as all get out! Here they are!” 2:23:47 PM 3/12/04 “Pretty with the flowers SS” 2:29:08 PM 3/12/04 “No duckies?” 2:32:29 PM 3/12/04 “You take what you can get with kid's toys, LOL.” 2:32:58 PM 3/12/04 “I have to make a fleece stuff sack to put all 4 of mine in. It'll keep 'em all stacked so yer not rearrainging all night.” 2:39:35 PM 3/12/04 Trail Use Report “Used my 1.0 oz pillow on this past weekend's trip. I like it a lot. Very comfy. I learned you need to make sure the two halves are equal in pressure with air. One side bigger than the other does not work, ha ha. With both sides inflated the same, the pillow cradles the head nicely and I didn't roll off of it like a flat pillow during the night.” 1:04:47 PM 5/18/04 “Great idea, SS. Thanks.” 1:07:00 PM 5/18/04 “I cut the bottom of a leg off a pair of fleece sweats to make a nice little cover mine. I hate sleeping on plastic. I find mine is still not quite high enough to keep my big mellon up but even with something under the pillow it doesn't slide around much. This is the best idea I've picked up sense the ultralight dutch oven.” 1:11:30 PM 5/18/04 “I don't sleep on the bare plastic either. I wrap it with whatever clothing I have extra. You can also put it inside a stuff sack with ALL your extra clothing for a super comfy pillow. I find my 3/4 thermorest is plenty long if I use this pillow off the top of the thermorest (not resting on it). My knees will then rest on the pad with just my feet hanging over.” 1:18:12 PM 5/18/04 “yup, about the only time its nice to be a little shorter than some folks.” 1:20:06 PM 5/18/04 “I use the floaties idea on all my trips. They work especially well when contained in the hood of a sleeping bag. I have a little more trouble when I use the down quilt.” 1:29:14 PM 5/18/04 “the two cervical vertebrae in my neck with osteoarthritis thank you for this .... a rolled up towel with rubberbands is not practical for me on the trail...” 5:35:04 PM 5/18/04 “Sleeping on plastic is just begging for a rash. Yet another use for the bandana.” 6:27:40 PM 5/18/04 “Yea, I don't sleep directly on it. If you have long hair you could.” 6:33:04 PM 5/18/04 “stovestomper, the guy that sold me the hennessy hammock used your pillow and told me about you. :) Not sure what his name was, wasn't THE hennessy guy though, nor was it the sgt rock dude.” 6:36:30 PM 5/18/04 “Cool Gem! You got to tell him you knew this 'stovestomper' butthole, ha ha!” 6:40:09 PM 5/18/04 “yupp and I sure did!! butthole...that's what I said... NOT!! :)” 6:41:57 PM 5/18/04 “so... if you are sleeping directly on the plastic, does the black magic marker on the plastic rub off on your hair/head?? LMFAO!!! ;-)” 7:40:43 PM 5/18/04 “Oh, and don't forget to squeeze the valve when inflating and deflating it! Isn't that right, lizs? ;o)” 9:51:55 PM 5/18/04 “Sure, sunny, give me the stinkin' HEAVY one would ya??? Not the .3 oz lighter one that Stovey found. LOL! Yeah, and thanks for that little hint on the valves. LMFAO! On and thanks mucho for the flipper pillow. I would never have run across that in "my" world. LOL! :-)” 9:58:07 PM 5/18/04 “You betcha, Lizs! (heavy yooper accent) And lizs, it also seconds as a flotation devise when impish canoers dump newbies. That's just in case you have no cell phone to hold ransom. :o)” 10:13:29 PM 5/18/04 “Of course sunshine now has a nice big (but light) yellow inflatable pillow that just radiates her personality.” 9:09:45 AM 5/19/04 little hint on the valves? “lizs didn't know how to blow them up and deflate them? What kind of childhood did this woman have? Sure wasn't around water. Doesn't Iowa and ManySodas have lakes and rivers for summertime fun? ;-)” 9:20:06 AM 5/19/04 “Stovey, you didn't answer my question about the black magic marker rubbing off....... LOL! (of course, "1 oz." as opposed to "1.3 oz" does save on the ink and potential rub-off on one's head) LOLOLOL! ;-P” 11:02:46 AM 5/19/04 “lizs - I use permanment laundry markers to write the weight of the items. It should not rub off on your pumpkin head.” 11:37:35 AM 5/19/04 “Yes, I do, Pekka!! My kids love my sunshine. Sometimes Wyatt gets confused and calls "him" sunrise. LOL I had mentioned to the kids that they can't play with him because I am expected to bring him on trips with me. Sunday I took the kids to Copper Harbor and hiked around some waterfalls. Wyatt suddenly exclaimed, "We forgot to bring sunrise!" :)” 4:36:03 PM 5/19/04 “Oh, and I keep forgetting my manners! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I love my inflatable alter ego, too!” 4:37:41 PM 5/19/04
