Problems with Webshots?

“Anyone else having problems with Webshots today. It took forever to download my pictures last night...today most of the pages show those little red X's and take too long to load.

What concerns me, is when I tried to pull one of my pictures it said that it no longer existed or the page had moved.”

“YES! See little red "x"s here.... and I tried to upload a map to a new album this morning and it just wouldn't go. I thought it was my internet connection!! But no....”

I just realized that a couple of my pages are a couple weeks old. I had changed some pictures on them. Now the old pages are loading. Thats why I get the "picture not found/has moved" thing.”

“yea, webshots was under construction all day yesterday so there were little bugs for a little while. all should be okay now though?”

“I'm missing two albums and at least 30/40 other pictures.

"My Album" shows them correctly, but if I go to my public albums all kinds of stiff is missing.

they tell you that if you don't get an automated reply you typed the incorrect email address. Bull!! I re-checked!

I really like webshots because the amount of pictures I can add to it and that they don't have any file size restrictions, but this is getting stupid.”

I wrote a note to them... says they should get to it in 2-4 days. I sure hope my photo has shown up by then. LMAO!!”

Bill,

Thank you for contacting Webshots Customer Support. Our Community server is
designed to reload information on a schedule. If you add or make changes to
an album, expect it to be visible in the main directory and search engine
within 72 business hours. This excludes private albums, which are not
included in the main directory.

At this time, not all Community images are included in Search or within the
Directories. We are working on improving Search and the Directories so more
photos are available.

When you add an image to an album, it is pulled from the main directory and
put through the photo approval process. On average, the approval process
takes 24 hours. This time can increase on the weekends and holidays.

You can always access your albums by clicking the "My Photos" tab or by
going directly to your Community page. To access your Community page, visit
http://daily.webshots.com and click the "Community" tab. Enter your
membername under "Find a Member" and click "Go."

Now that I think about it, I added this photo... then deleted it, right away from my personal page, cuz I went back in Photoshop and punched up the color a little.

I then uploaded it probably within 10 minutes.”

“It shuts down my Internet Explorer every time I visit their site. Drives me batty. I can't get CTL ALT Delete to shut the program down, so I have to restart. Ugh!”

“Well, I just purchased my second account with them, so let's hope they do not suck themselves out of existence like Photo Point did.”

“It's possible that they only vet some images...Usually the photos I add are available almost immediately. Perhaps this is a new policy and they haven't updated their pages yet.”

“I've been loading up my Sierrapalooza pics, over the last few days. It often took several hours for new photos to be added.

It seemed like the albums would come and go, from my community page, becoming 'Unavailable'. If I sorted by 'normal' they would disappear, but when sorted by 'newest' they would be there. When I searched 'Sierrapalooza', I found everybody's albums from this year and last, except for my own

did you know that if you have a private album and make it public by mistake it will always be accessable if someone bookmarked it?? Yeah...just found that out!!
better be careful, rename it or something.

“webshots suck! Everytime I go to look at someone's album, Internet Explorer freezes up and I have to reboot my computer. I tend not to look at people's pictures anymore. It's a pity.”

“Pix, I had the same problem with webshots/explorer. Get rid of IE and download the Firefox browser. It's amazing how much faster my computer runs now. I actually somewhat enjoy viewing others pics now.”

“Can you dump the MS Internet Explorer off the Windows 2000 operating system without the whole thing crashing? I tried to get rid of IE once before when I had Windows 98 and it crashed. Had to reload everything.

“Just leave IE on your computer. I have both IE and Mozilla browsers, and even run them both at times.

IE is so tied into the operating system, you are asking for big trouble to remove it.
