“Roland Mueser passes away -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roland E. Mueser, author in 1998 of "Long-Distance Hiking: Lessons from the Appalachian Trail", died March 9 after an extended illness. He was 80 years old. "Roly," a fixture for many years at the annual Gathering of the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association, hiked the Trail in 1989 and then surveyed his fellow hikers for the book. More than 150 responded, and the Harvard-trained physicist painted an extraordinary picture of the group in words and numbers. Memorial services were held last Saturday in Mountain Lakes, N.J.” 10:41:03 PM 3/15/04 “That's too bad. I liked his book.” 10:45:08 PM 3/15/04 “It sounds like a great read.” 10:55:22 PM 3/15/04 roland mueser passes away “ last edited: 5/10/05 11:07:08 AM” 11:05:38 AM 5/10/05 roland mueser passes away “That's too bad-im currently reading his book-it is very interesting” 11:05:57 AM 5/10/05 “I have his book as well, I bought it a few years ago. His data is more than ten years old though. A new survey of thru-hikers would be instructive.” 11:12:41 AM 5/10/05 “it would be interesting to see how much things have or have not changed while hiking the AT wonder if my job will let me off for 6 months to do that..I doubt it :(” 12:09:33 PM 5/10/05
